Machakos Accountability: Water Projects.
WELCOME TO MACHAKOS AND VISIT OUR 434 SOLAR-POWERED NEW BOREHOLES, 240 DAMS & PANS AND 216 RIVER WEIRS: PROVIDING NEARLY 1000 LIFE-SAVING WATER PROJECTS TO OUR PEOPLE.
In 2013 before devolution took root, hundreds of thousands of Machakos women and children used to walk for over 5 kilometers in search of water. When they found the water, it was in dug outs contaminated by cow manure.
In 2014/2015 financial year, my Government undertook a feasibility study on water issues and sources of water (a water mapping exercise) and in the spirit of Maendeleo Chap Chap, purchased eight (8) drilling rigs, Five (5 ) bulldozers and six (6) excavators and started using the data we collected. Yaani, tukaanza kuchapa kazi Chap Chap.
Today, I am pleased that we have dug 434 boreholes and equipped majority with solar panels. We have also laid 320 kilometers of new piping, taking water to homes. We have dug 240 boreholes and arrested water that flows in our seasonal rivers by building 216 River weirs.
Today, even though we still have some way to go to provide each household with tapped water, we have made major strides and currently hundreds and thousand of our mothers are drawing clean water at home or a few meters from their homes. By 2022, at the speed we are moving at, every household in Machakos will have tapped water. Inawezekana na Itawezekana.
Please find below a list of all our water projects. The list contains GPS coordinates and village names. I invite you - Wananchi, development partners, media, naysayers, bloggers, believers and even tourists from all over Kenya and overseas, to please get into your cars or motorcycles or even walk and visit the boreholes, dams and weirs. VERIFY VERIFY VERIFY and inform me of any boreholes that might have broken down and not repaired immediately so that I can get them fixed and fire those sleeping on the job. Talk to Wananchi and take photos and videos. VERIFY.
Due to the extended dry season, some boreholes may have dried up but that is where the dams come in and we know with the rains, the drying boreholes will be refilled.
You can start your verification exercise by visiting the massive 100 million liter dam at Nthungululu, Ndalani Ward, Yatta constituency. You can also tour the ongoing works of 70 million liter, Kibaoni Dam in Kibaoni Ward, Mwala constituency. Visit the homes that are now drinking, clean and purified tap water from these dams and hear their stories.
You can also speak with Machakos MCA’s because the boreholes, dams, weirs and pipes water are in their wards and they know where they are and can take you to them.
All these dams and boreholes have been constructed using 100% county funds. There are other projects done by well wishers and by national government but they are not included in the provided lists.
In our urban area we have lobbied and raised funds and we have massive treatment plants in Athi River and Yatta. Massive tanks and dams are about to be constructed in Syokimau so as to address the perennial water problems in MAVOKO area. In Machakos city, the water treatment plant is being expanded so as to meet the growing demand and the upcoming Machakos New City.
Do these works mean that people are not lining up for water or walking distances to get water. No. Does it mean there are no shortages. No. Does it mean we do not have challenges? No. The need is still there but the journey has started.
Every month, fewer and fewer people are going to rivers and our mothers are walking shorter distances to fetch water. The shame of lack of water will soon be history in Machakos county. God has been good to us and allowed us to have AMAZING results. Praise be to God.

Give the devil his due. He won a re-election running against the political grain. I think he delivered. Kenyans have opportunity to tell us whether they have water a week times..and we will compare Machakos - pre-devolution and post-devolution.

Sonko should be talking about subway or trumps to decongest traffic and slum upgrades. Instead the full is singing Uhuru Tena. Mutua deserves some recognition - there was that county peer review - or something about benchmarking and ranking county devolutional performance. Such an independent assessment would be better than this self aggrandizement.

You made the claim a few minutes ago "it's you that whines about graft war sijui Ruto anaonewa". EACC have finalize Ruaraka file but we haven't seen the arrest. High court has already ruled that lots of billions were paid out illegally. We need the former AG, Matiangi and Prof Kipsang out in court defending themselves. That is litmus test for Uhuru. Kibaki had his moment when Kiraitu & Murungaru were fingered - with - Mwiraria - in Angloleasing - and he failed.

Of course you are wrong about Ruaka - court ruled MoE was mislead by NLC. The culprit is Swazuri - already soiled hands - Matiang'i is free as a bird. I know Matiang'i is a serious upstart who Ruto views as a threat, but we all here at nipate know it's a selective war on corruption. I mean, is Ruto no longer smart? He cannot attack Matiang'i for the same reason he avoids Tobiko & Maa - same as Noordin Haji & Somali - same as Uhuru & Gema... see? Checkmate.

It is Ruto's kalenjin supporters who are threatening the beheading - not Ruto. Ruto doesn't have an militia. As regards NLC - I believe Matiangi & Belio disregarded their own ministry counsel and went ahead to pay. Matiangi, AK and NLC should all be tried.
Matiangi is a sacred cow for Uhuru. If he gives him up, I will be convinced, he is serious. He has given up Rotich - another sacred cow - so there is hope. But Matiangi, unlike Rotich, has shored up his political capital...so not an easy decision. He is also probably actively blocking DPP - EACC file has been returned back several times.

Pundit - endorsements - even if we ignore the genocide threats by Ruto chihuahuas - Ruto is now the live and literal Kariuki Chotara, JJ Kamotho, Kuria Kanyingi combo - groveling at Uhuru feet at every opportunity - despite open matharao. About 50-50, Pundit set Ruto's redline for Uhuru to cross by firing URP crew from government. The redline has long been crossed but instead of the promised MAD we have more groveling.
Pundit, here's the reality - when you come up for air let us know if you spot the redline :
1. The 20yr MOU was thrown into the trash along with any consultations or co-presidency
2. Ruto's supervisory role given to Matiang'i
3. Raila took over Ruto's political role literally advising Uhuru and doing the "heavy lifting" of fending off Ruto's missiles. Raila and Ruto have switched roles
4. IG which was Ruto's slot was taken by NIS spy Mutyambai. Grapevine is Uhuru trusts Kameru to pick such for the successful anti-graft intel he supplies DCI. People are promoted for fighting Ruto
5. Rotich is gone and the Ruto slot taken by Ukur Yattani, along some lady PS. Of course Ruto was not consulted
6. KPLC, NCPB, KVDA, etc Ruto crew have been fired and no consultation on the replacements. New appointments have been given to Kieleweke and NASA allies with Ruto being left out
7. Waititu aka Babu Yao, Itumbis and other Ruto disciples are nailed to the cross by Uhuru's mean, cruel machinery. Kiunjuris, Sonkos, Wa Irias - noone near Mt Kenya dares to support Ruto - it's akin to treason. Your puny brain cannot separate the processes or wheels spinning - with the end game. What is Uhuru long term strategy that would allow him ditch Ruto. To become a PM in Raila gov. That got to be a sick joke. You must be stupid to even entertain such thoughts. Uhuru end game in my view is to confuse you & Raila - buy peace & time - and govern(AKA LOOT) bila opposition until 2022. They have added bonus now because Raila has also neutered Ruto from demanding his 50 percent share....I doubt we will have any REFERENDUM from BBI. Just wait....and see.
