Absolutely frustrating to get the new passports locally and hapa majuu. Deadline will have to be extended. Hopefully by then, there will be a few more millionaires in Nyayo House and in the embassies.

Very true.Worse than Moi regime.kick the army idiots out

The problem isn't the GOK deadline. That one can be extended. The problem is that it was intended to coincide with the date when several countries will cease accepting the old non-biometric ones. So if you happen to be needing to travel to these places past the deadline, you won't be able to.

Deadline extended I thought

Deadline extended I thought
Was extended to August 31st but many embassies have not started processing them as we speak!!! So that extension was bure. They should just extend it to end of this year.
-
Woi, i haven't renewed mine

What a poor choice of colour. What is this? A passport for the "reserves"?

Moonki, tell your lawyer friends back home to sue the govt and stop this ridiculous deadline. The govt has not equipped embassies to process the new passports and yet has a 'deadline'. What's that? So a govt wants to jeopardize thousands of its citizens abroad who don't have the money or flexibility to fly home to get a fancy new passport. They'll now be in a foreign land without a valid passport through some arbitrary administrative act of govt. Is that legal? How is it no one has challenged the government on this? Besides, I now understand no country is pressuring GOK with that deadline like I assumed. It's totally self-imposed.

It is possible that no foreign government has pressured gava, but all applications for visas are met with the directive to supply the new passports. It could be coming from both or any side. Like gava asking embassies in Nairobi to issue visas on new passports only, thereby rendering the old passports obsolete. The directive could be from foreign embassies as well. What you need to watch is what happens at JKIA when you arrive with an old passport and they attempt to Miguna you for their own mistakes.

That's not the problem (what happens to you at home). The problem is those people stuck in foreign lands with the old passports whose embassies are not able to process the new ones. The idea of being Migunad is missing the real plight people are actually facing to chase wild conspiracy theories. People abroad need their passports for all sorts of administrative things, and they can't all just hop on a plane to fly back home for a new passport. Especially students.

Someone should definitely sue over the colour; having to carry such a thing is "cruel and unusual punishment". But over civil-service incompetence and idiocy? No, Kenyans generally don't have the slightest problem with that. They will turn up in large numbers at a political rally, to hear their "our man" hurl insults at that other group's "our man", but never to protest shoddy government services, corruption, etc. I think they will be OK with this small one too.

https://www.nation.co.ke/news/diaspora/Kenyans-in-diaspora-rush-to-list-for-Huduma-Namba/2107720-5162764-27gstbz/index.html Misleading story. Friends hapa majuu are not interested in Huduma Number. They just want the e-passports to make travel easier. In fact, most of them openly reject Huduma Number. If DC is like this, imagine Kenya embassy in Kazakhstan.

I have seen that the extension has been pushed to march 2020. So does 5his mean we can travel on old passports?
-
Yes, you can travel on old passports though it seems embassies were instructed to issue visas on new passports only. Everywhere you go to apply, you're told they need the new passports. Try again though, this new directive may change things. https://www.the-star.co.ke/opinion/star-blogs/2019-07-26-arrest-immigration-cartels-demanding-bribes-for-passports/

I like the color combination.
