Title: I have been trying to find what made Hutus so hateful and brainwashed
Post by: KenyanPlato on May 04, 2019, 06:36:25 AM
To cause a genocide. It seems hutu had the bad luck of align themselves with Christian fundamentalists. Wow this documentary just have pointed me at an angle that I have not been able to explore. The role of church in great region conflicts need deeper examination and proper counter measures ..when a religion is so dominant and then you have poorly educated elite you are bound to have serious problems. Kenyatta aganotism saved kenya from religious interference. He really lived for secularism. I wish he would have done same on the issue of tribal identity

Habyarimana did the Hutu in... made them believe they are special or something. In Kenya we need to be careful with the entitled Kalenjin - who believe they own the Valley - which is laughable ignorance in 2019.

Land pressure is the main cause for me. Rwanda cannot sustain that many peasants in that small land. People do not just fight. They mostly fight for resources..the less the resources the more intense the fight. This was a food fight.

You are crazy. You must be the only "expert" that thinks this was over resources

Yap their arrogance will lead to a genocide if it goes unchecked for long

You're focusing on the triggers. But at heart of this - is the fact that Burundi and Rwanda - are very tiny countries that are perhaps the most populated in Africa - it's like Gusii or Vihiga on steroids - and you got a few rich tutsi owning huge chunk of land where they raise cattle- in every village - and the hutus - are stuck there with very little farm land. Rwandese & Burundus are very poor - finding them having 3 meals a day is unheard of.

People who've lived together for centuries....speak one language and inter-marry....cannot suddenly kill themselves because of just propaganda.

The problem is Bazungu bringing their medicines and Africans subsequently breeding like rats - causing resources shortages.

You are crazy. You must be the only "expert" that thinks this was over resources

Academic reference :)

he causes of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda are manifold and controversially discussed. While acknowledging the importance of factors, such as colonial legacy, economic decline, structural adjustment policies, internal opposition to the government and the disengagement of the international community, there is a wide body of literature, which highlights the role of growing land scarcity in aggravating inter-ethnic tensions in Rwanda.

There is that aspect too.  The population needed an outlet to vent for bad economic times and the Tutsi was a easy target.  But you have to remember they ushered in independence with massacres.  So this goes a bit way back, but not before the arrival of bazungu.

The Catholic church was opposed to population control. Beyond kigali it is all poverty and high rates of it. Seems the country lost a high number of educated manpower and now Kenyans have been filing some of the void. That is a coujtry that doesn't have a lot of good options.

Yup - the Rwanda genocide wiped out both Tutsi and "moderate" Hutu middle classes. The educated folks, college students, corporate workers, etc were all wiped out.

The Catholic nonsense of opposing family planning ought to be criminalized. Same way we criminalize FGM or illiteracy or child labor. The line between religious freedom and responsibility is breached there by the Ndingis and Cardinal Njues.

The Tutsis prior to 1994 were largely excluded from the elite.  So in that sense, the country did not lose much.  They were not part of the intelligentsia.  Habyarimana ran a quasi-apartheid state.  It's kind of reversed now.

Comparing it to present day, all you have to do is be like Trump. Spread gossip and innuendos and people will follow. Look how many Temples, churches, mosques have been attacked in the last 2 years. Moi did the same thing in 1992, and many Kenyans died in Rift valley.

One wonders how Kagame runs that country. You almost get the impression that it is a time bomb waiting to explode once again. We pray the peace stays.

Yeah it's crazy.  One way to avoid the bomb is for him to succeed beyond expectations.
