Legal scholars disagree about whether Trump’s emergency declaration falls within constitutional bounds. In a rambling riff on the question delivered as an aside to his declaration of emergency on Friday, Trump predicted the matter would be appealed to the US supreme court.
“And we will have a national emergency, and we will then be sued, and they will sue us in the ninth circuit, even though it shouldn’t be there, and we will possibly get a bad ruling,” said Trump, “and then we’ll get another bad ruling, and then we’ll end up in the supreme court, and hopefully we’ll get a fair shake and we’ll win in the supreme court.”

Very little is being said about it but Calif and the court cases will be a thing to watch. Is it simply about the wall? When the British declared a state of emergency in 1952 in Zambodia there was hell and people like Kimathi ended up losing their lives.

It’s about limits to Presidential powers. For two years the orange fuckface has had a rubber stamp. GOP Congress. This is a trial balloon to see if he can avoid having to be constrained by Democrats. The upside is he is seriously exposing the underbelly of the American system of government which has always depended on the notion that powerful offices will always be occupied by honorable people.

Hurricane Sandy was an emergency, so was Maria, and the earthquake in CA in 1989, and many others, but Trump crap is not an emergency.

What happened to Americans? This is happening and all they can do is whine and hold up placards?

Exactly what happened in Nazi Germany.

On the progress side... science & medical research prospered under a nazi regime.
I don't think America will recover from this any time soon. America's such a racist society driven by survival and poverty. They're a dwindling superpower.
