Title: The End of Detecting Deception
Post by: vooke on January 20, 2019, 09:10:23 PM
Interesting article by a FBI veteran who insists that non-verbal cues are as good as they are bad at detecting deception or truth. I was grilled by cops a few weeks ago,the more educated ones, and I saw them struggle to pick my cues. I was brutally honest but spooked as hell.

Quote
.....There is no single behavior indicative of deception, not one. Even to those who say, "well we look for clusters of behaviors," they would also be wrong. There are no clusters of behaviors indicative of deception. Not really, not if we are honest.....

What kind of fraud are you engaging in pastor? I think those kind of non-verbal cues don't work with Nyeuthi. The mzungu is an open book. Mwafrika you really can't tell when he is lying or not. Most of wafrika are pathological liars anyway - brought up to be that way by hard circumstance of life - so lying with a straight face is the norm. What works here maybe is TORTURE :) or Threats of Torture.

It was some serious misunderstanding which was resolved amicably.

You are right about cues. Africa for the better part may be too rough for the cues to be any reliable. The fact that an FBI veteran with 13,000 interrogations can arrive at this conclusion is startling
