Looks more like North Korea to me than Angola :D.
Angolans are stupid and import all raw materials and even the bricks were imported.

Better than what Kamau or Njuguna is doing in Nairobi erecting ugly slumscrappers and charging an arm & leg. We need gov intervention in housing to balance the market.

With the psychological war won on looming Eastlands demolitions and Sonko in the pocket after having his cut the project should start.

The demolition of Ukay is such  a great strategy; the residents will be laughed out of town if they try resisting the demolitions of the decayed houses.

But looks like a non starter if these tenderpreneurs are the ones on it. Bure kabisa.

Exactly how many houses are being built under the Nairobi estate regeneration project? And do all the companies that have signed up contracts to erect high rise buildings in some of the city’s oldest estates have the capacity to handle the job?

These are just two of the questions being raised after the county government said it had reached agreement with eight companies for the construction of low cost houses in seven city estates.

The selected firms — Edermann, Lordship Africa, Stanlib, KCB, Kiewa Group, Directline Assurance, Jabavu Village Limited and Technofin — were picked following requests for proposals that were floated in April.

They will handle Ngong Road estate Phase I, Ngong Road Phase II, Uhuru Estate, New Ngara, Old Ngara, Suna Road, Jeevanjee and Pangani.

Those Angola apartments look so ugly from the air. Like cartons stacked on a table. Chinese lack of creativity. Or bantustans in a time warp.

Nothing can be uglier than all the buildings in all Kenyan urban areas with the signature open sewers!!

You can't jump from one ugly scene to another just because MuChina told you to jump. Planned housing does not have to be highrise buildings only. As you can see, Angola has so much space. Eastlands in Nairobi was extremely beautiful before population exploded and the likes of Kingori became mayors.

Thats one thing I agree with you. Spending on housing should increase.
Besides, there is extremely poor planning leading to blocked drainage systems when it rains. Urban planning is not taken into consideration when doing this.

Where will the funding come from? This https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/article/2001293257/mps-want-workers-to-pay-more-to-fund-uhuru-s-housing-bid ? So we contribute to something we're not even assured of getting or need? Basically this is another added tax on employees and employers. The other option to get chinese loans, but next year 45% of revenue collection will go to debt repayment https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/Debt-repayments-to-take-up-half-of-taxes--/539546-4543994-2cvwb8z/index.html .And what's left to be soaked up by recurrent expenditure.
