I know we have been well trained by hard experience to be skeptical, but what if Kamwana is genuinely looking for a legacy in the way the 2 said they were after the handshake? Maybe God has heard our prayers and possessed him with the desire to create a truly functional country? I know its wild, but who knows? Just thinking out loud. If RVs are no longer warring and Ruto comes to genuinely join in, maybe we might, to our greatest shock, see these guys give us what we've always wanted after all? Maybe they'll give some kind of amnesty for past corruption in exchange for a return of some of the goodies and a new law abiding state? Hey people, you never know. It's not bad to dream.

He should start by correcting past injustice, then we see he is genuine. As far as what he is doing now, he is simply kicking the ladder to prevent others from using it to reach oligarchy.
Otherwise, he is only playing PR.

If so don't you think he would have started by holding free and fair elections? Kenyatta family are irredeemably corrupt. I mean you have a family trying to direct rivers in central and direct the water to the new city they are building and somehow you think this guy means well?

I wish he was. What motivated handshake was intelligence that Ruto was growing too big and was bragging that he was pretty much running the government. Ouru needed Raila for political stability while cutting down Ruto to size otherwise Ruto would get to Raila first and Ouru would be isolated. Ouru therefore got to Raila first. Selling the fear of a Ruto presidency to Raila was easy. Raila was that Ruto wanted to reunite the Kadu family and to kick out the old Kanu founding members. Apparently there was intelligence presented that Ruto had muttered those words in conversation with others. Whether he actually believed them or he was just blowing hot air cannot be determined and people are not going to sit around and find out when it is too late. RAO will support the handshake in exchange for the reforms dear to his heart. The handshake committee is hard at work and will soon come up with recommendations. Hopefully referendum for a parliamentary system will be one of them. Electoral system should be the other one. Even RAO gets any of those two, he will have achieved a lot for this country.
