ODM MPs have called a press conference to discuss William Ruto. They say that he has hold RV Hostage. ODM can talk about holding a region hostage?
-
Raila is the only one holding a region hostage. Luo Nyanza is under his violent grip. Ruto has not stopped anyone in RV...he just beat them in the game.
-
In RV you have Isaac, Gideon and small fish like Alfie Keter openly defying Ruto. Keter even holds rallies in Eld to oppose Ruto and noone is bothered. Kalenjin are very intrrnally democratic.
In Nyanza opposing Raila will get you ostracised. We saw an old man who dared to vote on Oct 26 get lynched. Noone dares to question the Handshake except poor Miguna.
-
WSR is the real deal!
-
The victims of the hostage crisis are entangled with the captor in an embrace of the Stockholm syndrome type. They call those watching violent cowards.
-
Kindly rephrase in English. Is Mr Ruto holding hostages or not?

You need to make up your mind first as to whether you care for democracy. obviously you do not seem to understand or care to understand what democracy means unless it is convenient for you to make a point. Mara democracy is a foreign value that does not apply in Africa and then when you need it to bash Raila then its a value you ascribe to the Kalenjin. Give us a break.
Ruto desperately needs the united GEMA vote because without it or just half of it, he cannot be president. He therefore needs the historical Raila phobia to help him consolidate the GEMA vote. The handshake threatens that and that is why Ruto has been restless since handshake. Then comes the referendum issue which he hopes will kill the handshake. The new thinking in Raila's stronghold is that if a majority of Kenyans are against referendum, fighting corruption, impunity, electoral reform, democracy or tribalism then so be it. They are just going to make sure they are not at the receiving end. When all Kenyans are equally adversely affected by these vices, then we can all come together as a nation and solve the-for now, let it rip.

I think they meant non-Kalenjins in Rift Valley(unarmed women and children - my emphasis) are considered hostages by the Ruto brigade. I have seen that sentiment expressed from time to time by Ruto supporters.
-
Exactly. Our own RV Pundit has alluded to it here in not too subtle ways.

The idea is predicated on the belief that Kalenjins have a right to slaughter Kikuyus in RV if they don't vote for Ruto. Pre-handshake, this would be viewed as a problem strictly between GEMA and Kalenjin. Post-handshake, it becomes a problem against a national consensus to fight tribalism implied in the handshake.
-
Don't conflate Left Wing ideology and socialist politics with democracy. Two different things.
I don't think threats and violence would benefit Ruto at this point. However I don't put it past Ruto to instigate violence if slighted. However things would not be easy for Kalenjin this time due the GEMA power disposition and overall national politics.
Ruto has a good strategic following among GEMA MPs. Even if Uhuru stays indifferent he would get support. Save any Uhuru open betrayal Ruto has the vote. Besides KAMATUSA, Bukusu, Somali and Northern. I know politics is volatile but if you were to leave it Ruto vs Raila I don't see the old man knicking it. Ruto's biggest asset and risk is Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila actually starts by deflating his base - falling out with Madvd and Weta and of course Kalonzo. Zero following among GEMA. Only playing kingmaker might help Raila.
-
Yeah Robina Ruto is trending towards 40% minus GEMA.He just need to consolidate western and coast..and get a real play in Gusii thro Matiangi. That mean GEMA WILL BE RUNNING TO MAKE A DEAL.Even if Raila was to go rogue and back a gema upstart..which is Ruto main worry..Ruto would still beat such easily by adding 10% Kalonzo or MaDVD in exchange of DPORK.Obviously Raila is at wits end but his burning ambition is blinding he will stand in 2022 and get a proper kichapo.
-
Raila after breaking NASA might wind up a distant second with 20%. Along "rebranded" Kalonzo, Madvd, Mutua, etc. It's very silly to run at 80 against Jubilee and Ruto. He better play kingmaker at least to spice this contest. The Handshake and inclusion strategy is not a bad start.

Just know that Raila does not have to be president and Ruto has to be or he will go to jail for looting this country dry. I believe he will end up in jail or exile at a certain point.

With the fantastically corrupt dynasties where exactly would the probe start? Unless there is a special standard for Ruto you need to worry about the real Kenyan looting families. Tough luck.

Ruto does not belong to a dynasty and that is why he may be the sacrificial lamb for corruption. Ruto has been able to amass all these wealth without being president, imagine if he were to be president-he would make putin look like a choir boy. The money men know this and they are scared he would destroy the economy with his huge appetite for corruption. There will be a clamor to stop him at all costs because he will destroy them if he were to ascend to power. Ruto can shut down the referendum debate but that will only open up the 2022 campaign. Ruto is in a lose lose situation. He has placed a huge bullseye on his forehead and its going to be a brutal four and a half years for him. Raila can sit back and sip some wine and wait and see how things go. If things look good, he can run for president, if not he can be a kingmaker.

which money man in kenya is prepared to put billions and outspend Ruto. The last one Wanjigi is still crying in the toilet.Ruto has shown he is not afraid to spend...something Raila or Giddy or shadow politician are not ready to do..and by time they wake up Ruto would have had every rkey politician on retainer.Ruto is the ultimate and consumate politician at his apex..it will take special talent or a bullet to stop him..the man is an excellent propagandist, work thrice as hard routinely arriving in the office before dawn and leaving at dusk, touring the country like its small village, spending like there is no tomorrow, rans a parrallel nis and knows everything that goes down, etc etc..he has prepared for this for such a ling time..crossed all ts and ticked all the dots.i real pity old senile broke tired Raila.

This is the first time Ruto is running for president. He will find out very soon that being the head of a ticket is not as easy as being a kingmaker but I know that will fall on blind eyes and deaf ears.
We have enough time to settle this score and there is no need playing it out here everyday for the next 41/2 years remaining.

Ruto has been at apex of national elections and referenda for 30yrs..mostly as the engine..he knows what it takes and has meticolously prepared for this.He knows how many billions he needs to spend and the hardwork & organization required.

2002 he lost, with state machinery on his side.
2005, he lost.
2007, he rode Raila's coat tails.
2013, he lost, with state machinery on his side, but rode kamwana's and establishment IEBC connections to power.
2017, it's public knowledge he only won with state machinery when a major candidate withdrew.
2022 is already looking stillborn and it's 4 years away.
-
He lost or rigged or got rigged or help the winner but one thing since y2k in 92..Ruto has been the engine or the brains or chief campaigner or mobilizer..and has seen it all.For instance in 2002 after beating Saitoti&Biwot, Raila rebellion snatched their victory.Ruto learnt lessons thar he is using to kill the handshake now.So it may be his maiden run but he has more experience than Raila

He is a guy who either needs official state machinery, or a larger than life figure in his camp to succeed. That is why the so-called dynasty is giving him sleepless nights.
Ruto without state power, by himself, is not in Raila's league. This is not out of disrespect. Just facts.

Its hard to win against state power..ask Raila..that is why Ruto bidded his time and now he goes to 2022 with state machinery. That dynasty is not in gov and if they are they will be kicked out.Ruto is gov..i know he rans most of it and has his intelligence all over

That's generally true. It is indeed very difficult to beat an incumbent and that is why Ruto is uneasy with the handshake. However, even without the handshake, running as a VP may give one an advantage but NOT the level of overwhelming advantage an African president has when running for re-elections. Some people may even say that African Vice presidents have not done very well in this regard. This is the reason why Ruto should not count his chicken (no pun intended) until they are literally hatched. The level of arrogance he is exhibiting may excite his base but it could also be seen as peeking to soon and may turn some folks off-Just saying.
