Why do we need foreign firms to run our duty free shops??? Is it rocket science or something.

Its the same crap we saw when they had tenders to run I suppose two restaurants at the new terminal, wanting an international brand bla bla bla

If you've been to Johannesburg you'll notice they don't really give a hoot, they got like a million restaurants in the place, and local chains are allowed to compete with them.

Its not like its oil exploration or something so technical

Seeing that duty free shops pay very little in taxes, it should be left exlusively to local firms.

The same problem we are having with EPZs...

Kwesta,
The airport is International;therefore you need international brand;KAA and tax payers will get money from rental space and i think with a international brand there is a little chance of duty free goods find themselves outside;

I totally agree with you here. Can't we even equip Uchumi/Nakumatt to run such a thing? What's the big deal here?
