They literally castrated the bull. No jockstraps out there in the wild. But hyenas are something else.

Poor thing. Can't he run?

Not right after being neutered. Didn't you see the beginning? The hyena is a vicious animal when it gains the upper hand.

It's painful to watch. I imagine he was left there and devoured pole pole by that loathsome crowd. Bite by bite starting with the soft underbelly.

Yep. They ate him bole bole until death mercifully showed its face. They remind me a bit of a story I read about Hutu killers during Rwandese genocide. They tortured a lot of their victims to death.

It occurs to me we are goat- and chicken eating monsters. All the while disavowing the other creatures. Cannibals actually existed at some point during hunter gathering. Do you spot a difference between our hunters and the hyenas?

People were eating people in the DRC as recently as 2003 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/jan/09/congo.jamesastill (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/jan/09/congo.jamesastill). Canibalism was also somewhat rampant in that part of Africa if European explorers are to be believed. When battles were fought over territory with rival groups in the Belgian, the victors ate up the villages.

Cannibalism has a long and colourful history. Some of the more "spectacular"---mainly because they are especially surprising but also because of the gruesome details---cases are to be found in the Crusades: for example, when the Crusaders overran the city of Maarat (Ma'arra) one of the things they did was to feast on the natives.
