...The real issue is that the government appears to have no interest in a free and fair process. As I recently argued in this journal, Kenya’s ruling elites have been modelling an increasingly sophisticated version of electoral authoritarianism over the last decade. For them, elections are merely a tool for maintaining power rather than for presenting a real opportunity to transfer authority. Unsurprisingly, their immediate response to the boycott and to mass demonstrations has been to push through parliament a law that awards automatic victory to a candidate if the other withdraws, to outlaw protests in the country’s major cities, and to threaten to arrest opposition politicians organizing demonstrations./quote]

Human rights groups protested, with some pointing out that police have killed at least 37 people in demonstrations since the results of the August election were announced.
Kenya's Supreme Court nullified that vote, citing procedural irregularities and voiding the victory of President Uhuru Kenyatta. The ruling opened the way to a repeat vote on October 26.
But opposition leader Raila Odinga has refused to take part, saying the rerun should not happen until wide-ranging reforms are brought in to prevent another failed vote.

Morocco beat a bid from Equatorial Guinea in a fast-tracked process after CAF stripped Kenya of the tournament three weeks ago. CAF says Ethiopia also expressed an interest in hosting but didn’t provide government guarantees./quote]

NASA will load my support if they get into dialogue with the electoral fraudsters.
