Legally speaking there is nothing wrong with 'buying' politicians. So long as the legal tender is offers - the kind Eugene and Balala got - nothing to be done. Even Dr Ben Carson is now a Trump cabinet secretary.
Now here of course some of the tender in supply would land people in prison if the judicial system was properly functional.
It says alot about our democracy that defectors shuffle weight around. We are frre of principles. I think the US was this way in the days of the unforgiving wildness - wild west.
Robina, please do not insult Dr. Carson in an attempt to justify the mockery of Democracy going on in Kenya. Dr. Carson has always been a conservative and was to the right of mainstream conservatives like the Bushes, McCain and Romney. Also Carson has his own money and will not sell his ideology for money. Your assertion that there is nothing wrong with buying a politician does not make sense because there are so many laws against "buying" politicians. For example, bribing a politician to vote in a certain way in parliament is against the law. There are certain things that we are not supposed to sell like our conviction, beliefs or our body. The majority rule in a democracy was not supposed to be achieved by buying people. This is the reason why in developed countries you have very strict campaign finance laws. This kind of thinking is what allows criminals like Arap Mashamba make a mockery of our democracy.Legally speaking there is nothing wrong with 'buying' politicians. NASWA rioted over campaign funding Bill that attempted to regulate and place ceilings on funding.
