What does he expect to get from Jubilee?  He made a bad mistake and ran against a popular governor and now he wants to blame everybody except himself for that dumb move. Good riddance.

Well - he had two options - remain in NASA and hope to inherit Joho's mantle - or fight for his own - I think we know enough about power to know Joho is not about to hand over to Omar - he'll be barred from running in 2022 but that won't stop him putting his stooge - maybe his current deputy or  bro. You need to see what he tried to do in ODM nomination - where he rigged out Mohammed in Nyali and gave it to his brother.

In politics I say you gotta fight it your own way. Don't sit there waiting to be handed power. On this Omar has made the right call.  Raila & Kalonzo have showed severally they are indebted or subservient to Joho - Joho basically finances Raila - so you can wait and wait - but Joho will make the calls in Mombasa if you're in ODM - or you can join the forces fighting Joho - which is Jubilee.

Power concede nothing. You have to fight hard and long enough to get it.

Sad day for him and his family. Kenyans are always right when they label you a mole. Now the poor sob has ruined his political brand I doubt he will ever win any political office again. Look at balala,  I doubt balala can win a MCA seat.

What a way to feed your family especially after he spoke with so much conviction against the same people he is now embracing.

Shilingi yaua...

Omar has a kajitumbo that unfortunately does not digest grass very well.  It's comical seeing this guy embrace the jubilant having been one of their most incendiary critics.

I think like they said in The Godfather, Omar "received an offer he couldn't refuse".

I suggest that both Mashianani Ruto and Munyaa received the same.

He has not really been in NASA since he started his run against Joho.

I don't picture Omar as gullible. His quick rise in student leadership, civil society to senator shows a working head. He figured battling Joho from within gave would give him the political capital he is spending now. Ambassador to Mauritius or bandari chairmanship will follow. Likely the former to reduce the infighting we already see between Shahbal and Balala.

And how will that solve his political equation.  Loyalty to ideals and principals  is very important even in kenya.
I don't know how you can abandon your people in the middle of a gigantic fight for the soul and heart of the country and expect respect...even your enemies will not respect you.

OMAR better cash that 200 million shilling jubilee check first thing Monday morning.

Let me help you guys put all this in perspective:

1. Omar Hassan has no constituency
2. The few Swahili votes that do not follow Nassir go to Shah Baal
3. The votes that Omar got were (a) Kamba (b) Duruma out of loyalty to Kalonzo
4. NASA has known all along that Omar Hassan was a Ruto man complete with photos and audio of meetings at different places delivered to NASA by Omar's aides who disapproved of it
5. Omar Hassan was given several tasks at different times
6. Omar Hassan was promised the job of Internal Security (even before Nkaissery died). He thus used the fight for governorship as his ticket out of the senate for the cabinet

Now I have some news for him:

They will sooner die than appoint him to a position where he would cause trouble were he to betray them as he has betrayed NASA. Traitors are usually killed by those who make them betray.

I agree there is zero political capital to be gained by this move.  The best he can hope for is becoming another Najib Balala.  And that’s a long shot.  I think the jubilant will use him as a mascot for coast campaigns the plan being to dump him after the election for his Migunaesque traits.

Well, good ol' Ronnie got it right years ago:

It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first. Ronald Reagan

Folks, Kenyan politicians are basically slags -- skanks if you will. Floating at the top of this putrid flotsam is Uhuru, sous him is Ruto, the Speaker of this House and that Senate, the knucklehead Chief Whip of the "National"Assembly, and pretty much all the other freeloaders cabinet secretaries, PSs, and so on and so forth.

And, yeah, the opposition does have catch-up potential.
