The idea of senator oversight job over Governor to me makes little sense if they are from the same party.
They campaigned together so they probably are buddies, and have a party interest to guard. How on earth does one bark at the other?
For this, I believe Sakaja will struggle to make his mark, unless he shines elsewhere like in legislation.
So I was pleasantly surprised to see these two exhibiting infantile rivalry barely a day into their term. Kakamega will shine no doubt

That was stupid mistake by Oparanya. He soon will be sweating because Jubilee has the senate and he just lost Malala.

It makes no sense to me under any circumstances. Maybe because my initial exposure to the senate was the US system. I see a Senator as a representative of a county to check the National Government. He should have no say in the running of the county. Each county already has its MCAs to check the governor.
I am also not a huge fan of these ceremonial inaugurations. They can be done on a Monday when a judge shows up to swear them in at their offices.

I want Oparanya to do well and go National. He is my hope for PORK

Another county destined for greatness is Narok.
Governor Tunai(Jubilee)Vs Senator Ledama (ODM)

IN SUMMARY
Ledama alleged corruption, mismanagement of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
He vowed to stage a fight with the governor during his second term in office.
The governor termed the senator a novice in politics, advising him to first go through orientation.
Personal differences between Narok Governor Samuel ole Tunai and Senator-elect Ledama ole Kina openly played out during Mr Tunai’s swearing-in ceremony on Monday.
Mr Ledama, elected on an ODM ticket, sparked off the war of words, publicly accusing the governor of mismanaging the county’s resources.
He alleged corruption, mismanagement of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve and the pending Mau Forest evictions, vowing to stage a fight with the governor during his second term in office.
The chest-thumbing senator warned the governor that he would closely monitor the county budget and the audit reports which he said must be made public and transparent at all times to stop embezzlement.
ALLEGATIONS
“There are contractors who were not paid during your last term in office. There are projects that were not done in wards after they were launched. I will be vigilant. This will not happen during my term,” Mr Ledama said before hundreds of residents, dignitaries and guests who turned up at Narok Stadium where Mr Tunai’s inauguration took place.
“As a county we have a big problem about the Mau Forest and pending evictions. We need the county to set up proper boundaries to stop further encroachment,” said Mr Ole Kina.
Mr Tunai, responding to the attack after making his official speech, warned the senator-elect against making unfounded claims which he cannot defend.
He termed the attack by Mr Ledama as personal.
POLITICAL NOVICE
The governor termed the senator a novice in politics, advising him to first go through orientation on what is expected of him as a senator and stop “behaving like an activist”.
Mr Ledama beat Jubilee’s Nkoidila ole Lankas to secure the Narok senatorial seat in the just concluded General Election.
Mr Tunai, referring to a 2013 election petition that Mr Ledama filed against him, reminded the senator-elect that he is yet to pay him as he was ordered by the court.
“I thank God you won this (seat) because you can now pay me my money as you were ordered,” Mr Tunai said.
WORK TOGETHER
However, the governor said he is ready to work with the ODM senator and equally ready for a fight if insists on that.
“If you will agree [that we] work together, that’s fine, and if you don’t, we are also ready to face you like the other time,” the governor said.
Mr Ledama filed a petition in the High Court in 2013 challenging the election of Mr Tunai and his deputy Evelyne Aruasa but the court dismissed it and ordered him to pay Sh4.5 million as cost of the suit.
The court granted Mr Tunai and Ms Aruasa Sh1 million each, the electoral commission Sh500,000 and other respondents were to get amounts ranging between Sh50,000 and Sh750,000, bringing the total to Sh4.5 million.
Mr Ledama had moved to the Supreme Court to appeal the High Court decision but later withdrew the case and sought to challenge the costs awarded to the respondents.

Jubilee controlled the senate 2013-2017. Oparanya was governor. He was intimidated and threatened to leave ODM. He resisted and he has been re-elected despite Jubilee bankrolling his opponent. What has changed?
Politics is about having an opponent. A worthy opponent to help galvanize your base. The jubilee model of annihilating opposition is suicide.
BTW ALL those MPs that Pundit was boasting about in Kilifi... that they had crossed to Jubilee and therefore Kilifi has SHIFTED... does anybody recall.... They LOST!!!
Not even the algorithm could help them. From now on please know that the defection of an MP or MCA is equal to crap. They have no influence unless they are defecting to the wishes of the people.

2013-2017 Senate was bit 50-50. This time round Jubilee has clear majority. You don't want to mess with that. Oparanya & Malala belong to NASA - I wonder why they cannot even agree on sitting positions. As for Kilifi - mmh I think Kambi Kazungu mistreatment diluted all the work done by Jubilee. That only county Jubilee didn't make any gains btw 2013 and 2017 is Kilifi & Mombasa. I think Joho-Kingi have proven their worthy -and Jubilee need to make a deal with them - after some more balls squeezing.
Obviously MOAS is out there - I didn't expect a big shift - in Kilifi or Mombasa. I hit Mombasa on the bulls-eye. I expect Jubilee to get to 30% of Kilifi - they ended up stuck at 15%. Kilifi,Tana River, West Pokot and Isiolo are counties I got wrong - Jubilee did fair worse than I anticipated. You can add Garissa and Lamu. Jubilee well turned tables on NASA in Nyamira, Kisii & Wajir...otherwise I am nearly on money on the rest of the counties..which is awesome pundit.

I think you underestimate rivalry within NASWA between Luos and Luhyas.
