One thing I am happy about is the ill advised war Uhuru has declared on NGOs and Independent Offices.
Moi did the same by removing the security of tenure from Judges and the Attorney General. He continued with the harassment of NGOs one-time breaking down Wangari Maathai's house - like they just did to Africog and KHRC.
The response was unexpected. The anti-Moi lobbying started in earnest. The more negative publicity the angrier he got and acted more irrationally. He started diplomatic tiffs with western countries.
Totalitarianism is a runaway express train in many respects. It clears all obstacles mercilessly but it inflicts serious later to be fatal blows on itself.
I can see all the fossils of the 80s and 90s that got rid of KANU assembling at KHRC and Africog.

Yup. If they confound this with trying to control counties they will be in for serious trouble. Getting a supermajority in parliament just moves the opposition to other quarters.

But this is just a foreshadowing of things to come. They do not yet have their super-majority parliament. Very soon I expect there to be laws to go along with the harassment. There will be a back and forth battle in Kenya's judiciary, then I expect the 2010 Constitution to undergo severe mutilation to ensure a compliant judiciary.

I do not trust Matiangi and his boses. They knew exactly what Fazul was doing-this is sungura mjanja tactics. They believe they can do whatever they want now.
