Title: Microchip Implants For Employees
Post by: Kim Jong-Un's Pajama Pants on July 25, 2017, 06:51:58 PM
With IoT this is exciting stuff.  Prophet Owuor could not have predicted this in his deepest delirium.

Quote
A Wisconsin company's plan to become the first in the nation to implant employees with microchips has observers wondering whether the invasive procedure is getting too close for comfort.

But executives with Three Square Market, which provides technology for mini-markets and kiosks, insist convenience — and not a ploy to become Big Brother — is driving the initiative.

"This is the future," CEO Todd Westby said Tuesday on TODAY.

With the wave of their hands, employees will be able to open doors that require identification cards, log into their computers, operate copy machines or pay for snacks out of the company's vending machines, the company said.

Christian  onapiracy theories about implants being mark of the beast are as old as the implants. I first heard about them in the late 90s

Here's one 8yrs young
Owuor probably gave it a pass because it is overused.

His latest prediction is Korean War.

There was one on Iran Nuclear war that I first read of in a novel by Daniel Silva...further research proved that the idea was floated first in 1982.

Iran
rehashed earlier this year

South/North Korea

Are you sure this is not what Revelation 13:16-18 is about?

Quote
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

How's this for cool technology: http://www.nomorewoof.com/

Once they also figure out how to translate human speech into barks, man and his best friend will finally be able to have real conversations.

Might be good for kiddos, keep them kidnappers/traffickers away from them. Then again they may dig into the kid's body trying to get them out once they are known to be present. If only they could be planted in a way that was both safe and impossible to get out without the services of a specialist and this was well known. They may also opt to abuse the children, and quickly kill and dispose of their bodies too. There are pets that have these and they help to track them when they are lost. Risks either way.

Interesting. Animal speech has been known a long time. Some 'witch doctors' were known to converse with animals in the past, with the risk of being lynched along along with their 'demon dogs'.

I mean human replicas - not robots. I have seen stories of genetically engineered "twins". I will look it up sometime.

Other than ethical issues(I don't know which), there is really no technological barrier.

Who else loves pets. Funny even ULA don't let me travel with my animals.

My beagle is unbeatable as man's best friend, which is why I am very keen on what No-More-Woof has to offer.

Back to the micro-chip implant thing: It could take "Big Brother" to a different level.  Your employer might be able to tell how much time you spent on your cigarette breaks, or in the toilet, or away from the workplace, ... and generally poke its nose all over the place.

I think by No-More-Woof they meant to be "hip" or sound cool as a marketing thing - like "Waiting for Godot" to imply swift service.

That's one way of viewing the matter. I see more opportunity than threat - like conversing with animals seriously - or telepathy, reading minds, etc. Tickles my fancy.

Cloning ethics... we can't just photocopy people, can we?

Perhaps.   But we (the prospective customers) are looking at the long-term picture: dogs will not need to bark, because whatever they have to "say" will be converted into human speech.   Humans will, in the medium-term need to bark, when what they have to say needs to be transmitted to the hound, but that too will eventually be done away with.   This thing is going to be huge for man-hound relationships ... and with all sorts of concrete benefits.  For example, just imagine the kind of money people will be able to save when they can honestly talk to their best friends instead of giving their hard-earned to shrinks.
