Paved roads as a percentage of total roads in kenya as reported by the commission of Revenue Allocation in Kenya in 2011.

The data exclude Nairobi.

As of 2014 -According to Central Bank of Kenya’s Economic Survey 2015, total number of paved roads reached 13,000 km last year, up from 11,230 km in 2013 - 16% increase!

That doesnt seem like the correct indicator. The number of roads may be of different length and coverage.

I think they should give us road density i.e road length per unit area.

Yeah the data seem spotty - overally I think we suck - when it comes to % of paved roads - at best we might be at 15% now --which is really really bad. This an issue that we need to define our politics going forward. Jubilee need to make this their top priority.

Road density
At the moment Kenya has 14,000 kilometers (8,700 miles) of tarmac road which translates to a density 28 kilometers (17.4 miles) of roads per 100 square kilometers of land.
Data from the World Bank and financial consultancy PwC paints a picture that is neither so good nor so bad when Kenya is compared to other African countries.
Kenya’s road density is lower than South Africa’s, which has a density of 62 kilometers of roads per 100 square kilometers of land. But East Africa’s largest economy has a higher road density higher than Angola’s four kilometers of roads per 100 square kilometers of land.
