So, Batman has never told a falsehood his whole political career?

Face it, Weta will always say what's in his personal interest to say.

The part about not having said what he said is crap. He said it.

However the media exaggerated and he did nothing to set the record straight. He is a lawyer so we know he played with words knowing that others will misunderstand him. So fudging was the intention.

Is he going to cross to Jubilee. I doubt it but who knows. Why?
1.a  He made enough from betraying ODM in 2007 - even stealing an ODM seat
2. b. He made enough from Turkan Oil and will continue to as a shareholder having taken part of his payment for the block in stocks. So he is financially stable and Jubilee would have to cough blood to get him - not that it is impossible.
3. Post Shikuku Ugali Western is a dangerous place to play traitor politics. Here are examples
i. Khalwale had his car burnt to ashes and has since learned to respect wanainchi
ii. Health Minister Minister the Late Kulundu was unable to call a single public rally in his constituency because of his support for Kibaki
iii. Mudavadi lost badly to Akaranga and has never recovered. Nobody trusts him not to sell people to the highest bidder

That said Wetangula had to say something to counter ODM. What I don't understand is why he did not arrange his own rallies in Vihiga, Busia, Kakamega and Bungoma. The more the merrier

So, Batman has never told a falsehood his whole political career?

Face it, Weta will always say what's in his personal interest to say.

Simanova:

There are a couple of things the CORD 3 should have done ages ago:

(1) Agree on how their presidential candidate would be selected and when (preferably early).
(2) Make that information public.

It is still not too late to do all that, and it would be better than the absurdity of each of the three aiming for the position and calling on the other two---their competitors!---to support them in that quest.

Cord is made up of 3 allies, they have some common interests and some individual interests, make no mistake, allies are not friends
Common interest: they want to see Jubilee out in 2017
Individual Interest: if they fail in 2017, neither wants the others as strong cometitor candidates in 2022
At some point calculations will be done on the probabilities of winning 2017 vs 2022, and moves will be made to further personal interests first, and cord interests second if the two match

This should not be a difficult decision. Ouru and Raila are set for a rematch.  Weta or Stevo should wait for 2022 when there is no incumbent president running. They should be glad that Raila is willing to take on ouru who has all the trappings of an incumbent.  Raila is set to run in 2017 and cannot abort right now.  I do not know about Kalonzo but  Weta is not ready yet, he needs resources and a solid base of support. Right now he should support Raila and cash in later the way many have done.  Resources and political support from ones base are not easily transferable.

Wetangula ‘least qualified’ to carry CORD ticket
By Evans Kura

Ford Kenya Party Leader Moses Wetangula is under siege in a fluidy western Kenya that’s already been hit by election fever months  ahead of the 2017 polls. To stay afloat; he is flexing his weary muscles.

With less than 10 MPs and senators combined; no governor on his ticket and an inconsequential tally of MCAs, Wetangula’s stature as a “CORD Principal” has always been a matter of conjecture. Yet, his is also a rare case of bringing too little yet getting so much.

He is the Senate Minority Leader, third in rank after Speaker of Senate and Leader of Majority. He occupies this esteemed position courtesy of the CORD Mou that was premised on winning the 2013 polls and forming government. He was to be the third ranking leader of a triumphant CORD. This didn’t happen. CORD ‘lost’, but Wetangula didn’t.

Apart from benefitting in Senate; Wetangula has also been the costliest CORD principal to keep politically afloat. A successful by-election almost toppled him. His co-principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka had to literally “bomb” his County of Bungoma to ensure his re-election. And even after this; a highly meritorious case which dragged up to the Supreme Court found him culpable of an electoral offence.

Short-circuited, his political future was saved, once again, by a battery of high profile lawyers retained by ODM. He is yet to thank many of those lawyers.

At a time when CORD had decided to go full blown on IEBC, it is the ‘little Wetangula matter’ that kept the coalition from going on the offensive. To save Wetangula; CORD found itself in the awkward position where it had to pander to IEBC, albeit grudgingly.

In terms of numbers, despite his enhanced status as a “CORD Principal”; his Bungoma backyard delivered the least number of votes to CORD coalition in 2013 in the three western counties. It also gave CORD opponents -principally Jubilee – the highest number of votes in Western Kenya.

To rub it home; Bungoma elected a Jubilee allied governor! How did that happen? Wetangula has really never been put to task about it. The fact is; he was a lightweight. He still is.

Even more egregious; Bungoma also registered the least new voters in the just concluded voter registration exercise. This was courtesy of the ODM grassroots voter mobilization drive in the county. He never appeared in Bungoma throughout the month long exercise.

But as is usual of those who give so little and get so much; Wetangula has always expected to be treated specially. He always wants to receive, not to give. He awaits others to do the heavy lifting; then demand the spoils. At a recent CORD retreat; sources reveal how he shocked his fellow principals and participants by demanding to be declared the only viable winning candidate on a CORD ticket; and supported unequivocally through it.

However; the two CORD principals are said to be fed up. This past week; as he ranted, no phone call to soothe him went through. And none, as I have heard, is expected anytime soon.

Wetangula would lose to Raila in Bungoma.  The concept of the Luhya block being under the control of one of the jokers masquerading as the local leaders is overplayed.  In the 90's this might have been different.  In 2016, people on the ground know there is one guy with potential to change the status quo.  They have, or ought to have, seen too many permutations of how "our man can benefit" to get an erection from another local jumping into a lost cause.
