President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto cozied up at the latter's parents' home in Uasin Gishu county and told stories on Wednesday.

Ruto narrated stories from his childhood including how he survived at the village near Kamagut.

Uhuru had attended the burial of Ruto’s younger brother Harrison Kiptoo.

The two stepped away from the crowd and security personnel and talked for more than 10 minutes.

Ruto said during the funeral ceremony that villagers have found it difficult to believe he is the Deputy President.

He said that when he arrived the previous day, many told him they still viewed him as the ordinary Ruto they knew years ago.

The DP spoke of a childhood friend known as Clement, whose name has been corrupted by locals to 'Kilimendi'.

“Mr President, my friend Kilimendi and others find it difficult to recognise me as the Deputy President of Kenya," he said.

"I was here yesterday and he called me ‘Wee William’," he added amid laughter.

Ruto told Uhuru that his presence at the village indicated things had changed.

Uhuru 'confirmed' in his address that Ruto is the Deputy President.

“I will not call him William today but the Deputy President, so that these people know he is my DP," he said.

It is in the same village that Ruto is remembered for hawking chicken while younger.

In case you don't get the joke, Uhuru is playing the Kilimendi part in the photo. See his hearty pose.
