Title: Ethnic Appointments: Uhuru Does it Again!
Post by: Simanova on June 24, 2016, 11:08:55 AM
This time he has sacked Kimaiyo and appointed Karangi. I pray he continues on that same trajectory.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has revoked the appointment of Kenya Airports Authority Chairman David Kimaiyo.

In a gazette notice, the ex-police boss will be replaced by retired Chief of Defence Forces Julius Karangi.

Mr Kimaiyo was appointed KAA chair on December 31, 2014 and it is not yet clear why his appointment was revoked.

Now it balanced. Kangogo has been acting MD with Kimaiyo the chairman.

Nothing will come out of this probe. The files will be termed "national security" and end of the story.

Acting MD is nothing. He will be shown the door if he is not Gema. KAA and KPA are reserved for the chosen kabila.
KAA has been in Gema hands since 2002 when Kibaki took the presidency. Kimaiyo's tenure was just an interruption of the obvious. He will be given another job like head of Pyrethrum Board :D :D :D

What does the constitution say about these types of appointments?  The more the reason to hand everything that isn't foreign affairs and defense over to the counties.

In your list of parastals you seem to be shifting; is it KPA, KAA, KRA, KPL or which one? In terms of eating...I'd look at parastals that have eating opportunity...and for now...Railways with SGR...KPA with port expansions....KENHA (as always)...KAA (port expansion)..then Irrigation and power sector (KPLC-KENGEN-GDC-KPL)...LAPSET/KONZA (potentially)...etc etc etc...ministry of agricluture still have large eating in fertilizers and subsidy...NYS just became big conduit. In short there is just enough eating everywhere.....I'd look at the budget for each ministry and parastal....and ring fenced those.

This lame conspiracy that kikuyu have reserved some seat for themselves is just lame. Kimaiyo was KAA chairman (really powerful:)) and now former Chief of Staff is now the chairman....we had kikuyu had reserved the chief of staff :) before Uhuru gave it to who?

Kimaiyo has been fired for most likely not being able to work with the Minister & PS in charge--and maybe his board.

Why President Kenyatta revoked Kimaiyo’s appointment

President Uhuru Kenyatta has revoked the appointment of David Kimaiyo as the chairman of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA). The former inspector general of police is seen to have fallen out of favor with the government with mounting cases of corruption at KAA.

In his place President Uhuru has appointed former chief of defense forces Julius Karangi to serve until January 2018.

Last year was embroiled in a major bus tendering scam that saw senior managers including managing director Lucy Mbugua fired. Insiders say that Kimaiyo had assumed a role equivalent to executive chairman and rarely consulted in making decisions.

The Kenya Aviation Workers Union has been calling for the disbandment of the authority’s board, claiming directors were not working in the best interest of the parastatal.

Captain Bootsy Musyoka, William ole Mayiani, Eunice Kigen, Susan Kiama, Mbatia Kimani and Jeridah Bosibori are among the board directors. The remaining slots are taken up by principal secretaries from the ministry of transport, interior and treasury.

The management team also has seven posts held in an acting capacity including acting managing director Yatich Kangugo.

Uhuru has rewarded sycophants as well as used these jobs to campaign for 2017. Its a waste as I see no name that will draw votes outside Centro.
