Title: Haiti To Join AU
Post by: Kim Jong-Un's Pajama Pants on May 16, 2016, 04:19:33 PM
When I see a Haitian, I almost always think I am looking at a Congolese.

Yep, Haiti — in the Caribbean — will become part of Africa. It will be the first non-African country to join the AU bloc.

Culturally, though, a lot of people feel like the two are already joined.

“Haiti always calls itself ... a little piece of Africa in the Caribbean, so I think it’s only fitting that now they made it official,” said Garry Pierre-Pierre, publisher of the Brooklyn-based Haitian Times.

“We share so much of the African culture from religious practices to the way we interact,” said Pierre-Pierre. “When I lived [in West Africa], it reminded me so much of Haiti, it was uncanny.”

And why not.   They have shown, consistently over a long period, that they have all the "requisite" attributes.

Yes they have.  Haiti's history is fascinating.  The slave revolt was possible partly because of a dangerously large population of recently arrived slaves, many of them from the same part of Africa, mostly Congo.  This was generally considered a bad idea by slavers.

Things started to go South immediately the French were eliminated with Jean-Jacques Dessalines declaring himself emperor, the country splitting up into two factions shortly after his assassination.

I hope another Baby Doc takes over the country and joins the other Papa Docs of Africa like M7 and Mugabe.
