Title: Anybody Ever Tested Crocodile Tears for Authenticity
Post by: Omollo on April 27, 2016, 05:42:52 PM
I have seen a lot of mockery online about this photo. An analogy of the crocodile has come up. I have always wondered about the accuracy of the analogy. Has it anybody actually tested the croc's tears and found the fake?

Or is it because the croc maintains its "usual" unfazed look (one wonders whether it is angry or about to laugh) even as tears flow?

Although we have established that crocodiles produce tears, of course they do not actually cry - that is a myth. So where does the idea that crocodiles produce tears of insincere remorse actually come from? It is difficult to trace the origin of this particular myth, but it's easy to see why it has become so popular - for an apparently remorseless creature such as a crocodile to actually weep over its victims is .. memorable ...
