Marathon can be boring but London has assembled arguably some of best marathoners and it a great watch.

The woman race has been done in by the rabbits. The men race is splittering pace. World record may fall. Kipchoge, Biwwot, Kipsang & The great Bekele all look great. This will be hard one.

Kipchoge & Biwott surges on....world record may fall...the rabbit is on fire.

Bekele caught up with the leaders. The pace setters is crazy.

Pace maker drops. Now down to 3 men. Bekele struggling to keep pace.

what an amazing race. Kipchoge just missed the word record after he allowed himself time to great the crowd. 3.05.Kipchoge is going to become greatest marathon of all time. He has the discipline to do this. He did it in track.

It's not that boring. If you run, you can actually appreciate some of the challenges; velocity changes eg turning are energy sapping events. I didn't see this one, but records aside I am yet to see a runner as ferocious as the late Samuel Wanjiru.

Wanjiru was a beast who went straight to marathon but I think Kipchoge with 4 straight marathon wins and his tenacity in track will surely become the greatest marathoner. Kipchoge was always the unsung heros running at shadows of Bekele but now he has found marathon.
I hope he get the chance to do something special in Berlin.

I know he won Chicago in 2014; he was fairly unknown then. Ethiopians have mostly dominated the women's event. I had no idea Bekele is now a marathoner.

You misunderstand me. Bekele has been crap in marathon. He did well today but he ran at 2.06..a time kipchoge has never ran...too slow.Bekele was simply destroyed by Biwott & Kipchoge. BeKele is greatest long distance track althete -by a mile--and we are lucky we watched him race then. He is definitely a GOD of 5 and 10k track races. And in all those years Kipchoge was his shadow. Except of course in 03 world when Kipchoge beat the two greatest track long distance althetes..Bekele & Gerbasaille..
Now when it come to Marathon...Kipchoge is on another level. He has the discpline and the intelligence to do this for a long time. Like the legendary Lagat of US. And they come from the same Nandi hills areas.Kipchoge has it all. Kimetto has raw pure talent but zero discipline or intellect. The money did him in. Wanjiru had raw talent but he had zero discipline.
Kipchoge in track and now in marathon is the guy who always deliver. He is discipline, humble and intelligent enough to know the enormous task ahead. I follow him in twitter and the guy is going to do special things.
This was special..but for me..watching him last year run the Berlin marathon with his inner lace out for nearly the entire race..26 miles..just underline the warrior that he is. You were expecting he'd trip over his lace...but he kept at it. And he ran 2:04.

Congratulations to Eliud Kipchoge, Stanley Biwott and Jemima Sumgong for their incredible performance at the London Marathon. You have done Kenya Proud.

are those finishes for real?? are they super beings or we should suspect performance enhancement drugs?? I sometimes leisurely walk for 15-20 kms and am totally knocked out

These are top athletes. A few minutes above 2 hours is now fairly established at top level competitions.

At the finish line they look like they just got started...like they can do another 10 kilometres or so ..it is purely amazing ...even suspicious to me these days

You can't always rule it out. Doping in long distance seems like a new thing introduced by greedy Kenyans. I think it's still fairly rare.

I guess I was wrong. I can see Kenya's Delilah Asiago trail blazed doping for Kenya. The short distance doping cases tend to make bigger news because more people follow them. Some of the longer distance ones, in earlier times could have just been ignorance(cough medicine or some other drugs) and then you test positive.
