Title: KNEC Finally Goes Nyooba
Post by: Omollo on March 24, 2016, 10:59:47 AM
Uhuru (Using his poodle Matiangi) has finally delivered this key institution to his tribesmen. Expect cheating and doctoring of exams and examination results to hit the sky.

I have no idea how a man who cannot spell his own - N.K.A.S.S.E.R.I - is involved in KNEC issues. And who gave him the power to "order" people to record statements? This guy has to be tamed. Let me state here that I think he has gotten to my nerves and from now on I will lobby to have him cut to size.

Get me right: I am against exams cheating. However what Uhuru and Nkaissery are doing is not the solution. One of the major mistakes during the writing of the new constitution was to deny KNEC independence. The Minister for Education should have no powers over the KNEC.

KNEC itself should not be an examining body but a supervisor and overseer of Examination Boards. The Universities should be encouraged to offer examinations. It is upto each school board to choose which Examination Board's examination to offer students in its school.

I only of Prof Magoha being appointed the chair. Let wait for rest of the board members. Hoping we can get persons of the highest integrity. KNEC credibility has gone to the dogs and soon enough universities might have to devise their own entrance exams.

Integrity was never a ground to be selected on a parastal board in Kenya.

Pundit

Why can't Jubilee simply obey the law? Its pretty simple is it not?

Under what provisions did they sack the Board and CEO?

I hate law breakers but This will be reversed. Why not follow the law? There are statutes that are supposed to attend to this. How does CS Nkaiserry come in?

The nyooba thing is a divide and rule tactic.  The ruling elite use that to keep wanjiku clueless, divided and focused on the wrong party while they continue to eat.  It has worked like a charm in Kenya.  They can rob her blind and she will put her life on the line defending them.

Will be interesting how Magoha turns out here. The rot exposed by KCSE 2016 cheating is just awful and shouldn't be allowed given the quality and reputation of our education system built over years. There is urgent need to reduce influence of parent ministries in some of these boards

Most of the members of the old board will however remain as the Knec Act (2012) is specific on representation to the panel.

A gazette notice seen by The Standard shows Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i appointed Education PS Belio Kipsang', Treasury PS Kamau Thugge , Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development Director Jwan Julius and Teachers Service Commission Secretary Nancy Macharia to the new board.

These positions held by govt are usually conduit for corruption by the political players thus the boards play no meaningful role.

Tertiary institutions should not be bound to base admission on KNEC administered examinations.
