If I was the Commander of the fallen heroes, I would receive them at the airport. I would salute the fallen heroes in death as they did me in life. I would be dressed in full uniform and identify with them as one of them, not as their head but one humbled by their selfless sacrifice.
I would address the nation from a military base and podium surrounded by fellow generals in uniform and speaking to a uniformed audience.
My message would be largely to the men still at the battlefront. It would be one of rising their courage and morale. I would ask them to concentrate on keeping themselves and the country safe and leave all other worries to me.
I would shut down all other issues of interest in Somali and make their safety my number one interest.
The attackers without the need to hear my speech would already know that there can never be peace for them and no place would be safe for them to hide and the nation too would know that I wouldn't be available for any other issue that could wait. My statement would be that I CANNOT delegate issues of national security and every fallen soldier who dies in the line of duty is deserving of my salute and personal tribute.
That's Isabel Githinji for you.
