to investigate chicken-gate.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is still asking for more time to carry out investigations,
EACC chief executive officer Halakhe Waqo said the ‘chickengate’ investigation was on course but termed it as ‘complex’ given its cross border nature.
“We’re waiting for some materials from the UK. We went back to get more information,” said Mr Waqo in an interview with the Business Daily.
Asked when Kenyans should expect to see the ‘chicken’ ‘eaters’ in court, he replied: “Be patient. I cannot tell you when.”

What else is new. They still need more time to complete Goldenberg.

They say the international angle is the complicating factor. The UK Serious fraud office is holding back EACC investigations apparently. Perhaps they should summon them to table their evidence with threats of arrest.

Apparently there is some compensation due to Kenya from this scam. But not a peep has been heard from the Kenyan side.
Muthoni Kimani has promised to properly sit down with the UK government over the issue. No dates or deadline of any sort given.
Which I find surprising. Because, from a Kenyan perspective, that seems like just more free loot.
“The Crown have indicated that they have tried to liaise with the respective governments [Kenya and Mauritius] to identify a means by which compensation may be paid it being their policy whenever practical to seek compensation,” the ruling reads.
“However, they are not positively pursuing compensation in this case.”
Judge Andrew Mitchell said there has never been a formal request from Kenya for compensation and he is unsure the affected states have taken any steps to recover the looted cash from their own officials.
However, Assets Recovery Agency director Muthoni Kimani refuted claims it is unwilling to pursue the Chickengate cash.
“We will sit down properly with the UK government over this matter,” she told the Star.

This is a clear example of ineptitude.
Money is very cheap in Kenya, although govt can't even afford toilet tissue.
Waste is the order of the day.
If you did an audit of spending, you'll collapse.
Wheelbarrows for $1000.
Shady Buildings for 17million
muram Roads for billions..

I doubt that it's a simple matter of going over there and saying "compensate us". At the least, they would have to provide a legal basis---facts, names, results of some investigations, etc.---and we shouldn't assume that anyone is keen to do that. Why would anyone in the government be keen to take a close look at the IEBC, especially if they knew what would be found? Better to keep some worms canned. "Quizz", "record statements", "leave no stone unturned' ... and leave it at that.
