Title: Why was local tribunal Rejected?
Post by: Higgins the genius on October 07, 2015, 11:59:09 AM
I guess it is because Raila and Ruto had fallen out and Kibaki and Raila were to be in-charge and thus the fear of interference

The idea was to kill the cases.

According to one William Ruto, the cases were to take 90 years before commencing. Little did he know.

Exactly. Kalenjin were going to be victimized. Considering Raila-Kibaki were the ones to appoint Judges.

Only the guilty can be victimised. Why were the Mijikenda and the Digos not afraid of a local tribunal?

It's true that they opposed the tribunal because they thought and understood it would be biased against them being sort of opposing Raila who was part of the regime at the time.  That is not to vouch for their guilt or innocence.  It's a well established fact that in most of Africa the court is going to do the regime's bidding, regardless of guilt or innocence.  Of course it only helped that they thought ICC trials would start after 90 years.

Raila as PM lost his head. He was easily manipulated by Kibaki. They appealed to his love for flattery - the same disease now afflicting Uhuru - and got him to jettison his constituency. Mau Forest marked the lowest point in Raila's politics.

Still the Kibaki handlers had more on him. His decision to accept government offers of a "holiday" to Italy with an unlimited credit card was one of the most stupid I have ever seen. It is at that point I parted from him and only supported the party.

Raila's problem is no different from that of Kibaki. Or should I say both men have the same problem: Overbearing and dominating wives. Kibaki eventually managed to tame Lucy in the final years of his rule. Raila has yet to tame Ida. Many people I know speak about this in low tones lest they face ostracization. The fear is how she will act when Raila becomes President. The consensus would be that just like Lucy believed it was her government and humiliated Saitoti, Ida may go further and fire ministers on live TV.

The fear is how she will act when Raila becomes President.

As things stand, there is little danger of that happening.   Those who detest Jubilee should start thinking of their 2022 candidate.

From my corner, the Presidency is Raila's to lose. I have never seen much better prospects than now. Uhuru has turned out to be paper weight. He doesn't know if he needs Ruto or not. On Mondays he needs him and then all other days he is working to have him jailed. One thing I can predict with certainty is that the two will not be on the same ballot in 2017. Take that cheque to a more stable bank than Equity

Raila would need to find a way of cobbling a real coalition without Mudavadi and others with heavy baggage. That is his challenge.

That has never stopped him from losing in the past, and his current lack of proper organization and focus do not offer much promise for a change.  If he has learned anything from the past, he is yet to show it.

What makes the prospects better?   That Jubilee is f**king up?   Remember that Kenyans do not vote on the basis of any objective criteria; only two things matter to the sheeple: (a) is it our man?   and (b) can we too eat if we join them?

When does he intend to do that?   Hopefully it won't be another last-minute, late-night dash to somebody's home.

Only in Kenya .... 30 MPs have a press conference to say X worked for Y.

Duale led some 30 MPs in insisting that Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was working with Karua who was then an influential player in President Kibaki’s Party of National Alliance (PNU).
