He appears to be too proud....
Fergusson Rotich beat him easy.
-
Rotich was the guy who tried to box in Nijel Amos at the commonwealth games. I think Rudisha is taking it easy. He has a lot of work to do. He has to make the Beijing contest entertaining.
-
It will take a very long time before his record his broken. Sadly we won't see sub 40 from Rudisha.
-
My thinking is that Rudisha's problem vis-a-vis this Amos kid is largely psychological -- Rudisha is losing that dominant, mental edge and, perhaps, developing a fear and block every time he lines up against the Botswanan.
On a different note, whatever happened to the best ever Kenyan middle and long distance athlete -- better than Kip Keino, or Henry Rono or Paul Tergat or Moses Kiptanui.
Of course I am talking about Daniel Komen.

I took a look at some stats today. Not conclusive, but they suggest that 800m runners peak at around the age of 25. Rudisha is 26, Amos is 21. The trajectories are clear, and one of them brings to mind a famous South African song about when the lion goes to sleep.
