Residents accused President William Ruto of alleged land grabbing, claiming he bought land from Narok Governor Tunai.#RutoMustGonow pic.twitter.com/9qgi0D7E79
There is a lot of misinformation online. Indeed, the majority of Kenyans do not possess official titles. Cartels everywhere in the corner of Kenya have been taking people's money and giving them allotment letters and later fake titles. Staying in one place for a long time does not make anyone a legitimate owner. I have followed most land issues, and the court always determines the real owners. I'm sure the real owner of the land was claiming it and had court orders, but squatters that were duped previously are assuming the worst.
Very disappointed.
Ruto has to control his greed.
At some point he will lose everyone.
Spoiling his hardwork by his greed.
I really do not understand your man. What is this with mashamba? He has more than enough for a person on this earth. Why not take a break from nyakuaring more land in the time he is president? He can continue with his greed after his stay in SH. The man is cursed. he should go for therapy.Very disappointed.

Huko nayo ni watu wazimu - they've been fighting since 1950s - I have my father's uncles huko - most of my uncles grew up huko herding cattle for their uncles -before being rescued by my dad to go back to school - the people in Angata Barigoi are kipsigis dogs of war.My dad's relatives from Kiptere moved to Barrikoi while he headed to Uasin Gishu in Early 1950s. It seems he made a better choice than his folks. Most land was acquired through conquest back then, and I doubt if most have legitimate titles! In 1940-1950. Uasin Gishu was Majority Maa. Seems Kale expansion in Maa territory is still going on. Narok, at this rate, will be Kaleland in 50 years. Marry, produce more babies, bring family, conquer, and move to the next land (At least that is how much dad the community was expanding back then and seem still in effect!). I thought Kipsigis would stop at Dikiir!
Angata is in border with Tanzania - Kipsigis in that one ward - are surrounded by Maasai, Kurias of kenya and Kuria of TZ.
Mambo ya title deed huko wacha nayo. That is similar to Barigoi of West Pokot.
Ruto should negotiate with residents if he is new investor who replace the Mhindi - Rai - in the sugar factory - otherwise they will be lots of bloodshed and it will be very bad optics for himThere is a lot of misinformation online. Yes your father made a great choice;I also think there is a Maasai angle to this. For a long time, Maa have been covertly putting up resistance to Kalenjin expansion, but I think it is too late now. Mzungus did injustice to Africans, especially before they left. After acquiring millions of acres forcefully, they sold it again at High prices before they left. Most delivered milk to Mzungu factories for decades and were allocated land based on the supply. My dad got a lion-size land for delivering milk for almost 25 years. Land that Originally belonged to Maa, then Mzungu nyakua, and now sold to Mostly immigrant Kips and Nandi that migrated to "Shamba" in the early 1900s. My great-grandfathers moved out of TZ before 1900 because of the same injustices. The tsetse fly and mosquitoes were not what you think but Mzungu engineered creatures of getting rid of Africans back then. British are ruthless MOFOS
Anyone who left for transmara became poor and desolate
Assuming they didnt die from mosquitos and tsetsefly.
My great grandfather shifted from Kapkibei next to Kiptere to Mzungu farm in Borabu scheme.
Later on Mzungu brought tractors and chased them away.
He hanged around Ndanai - instead of going back to kericho - kidogo his cows strayed into transmara
Mzungu confisticated cows - selling them - deduct fines - and handed him coins - Mzee died of depression shortly after that.
My grandfather now was destitute - marries grandmother - and is given land their home.
My grandmother use to send them to his brothers to look after cows huko barikoi.
Mzee escaped cattle herding amid through beating and went to live with relatives Kaplong.
After class 7 - he got job as untrained teacher- and remember his brothers huko Barikoi.
He found them big - herding cattle - brought them back - and enrolled them in school.
They were quickly jumped through classes - and became successfully.
Juzi those Barikoi grandmother relatives have started coming back and demanding their land :)
This land they left in 1950s!!!!!!!!
Anyway Barikoi huko is mighty mess - hapo is worse of the worst. My dad's relatives from Kiptere moved to Barrikoi while he headed to Uasin Gishu in Early 1950s. Listening to video - they are saying DCC -Trans Mara South DCC Abdihakim Mohamed Jubat - told chiefs and people that Ruto had acquired the land and has transferred. When you want to pull a scam, you have to mention 'mkubwa' so that people can scatter or stop the fight. Institutions like the Land Commission, courts, and the rest are doing a fair job, but Kenyans naturally want free stuff. They believe if they camp somewhere for decades, eventually they will own the land. In my village of Moi Barracks, there have been squatters on Kenya Army land since the 1970s until 2025 and going, but they still believe the land is theirs. The village is even called Tapanyanini since one old Mzee told DC in the 1980s, "Tutafanyanini sasa kama jeshi nafukuza sisi" If someone didn't work hard to buy the land in one form or another, there is always the original owner. If it's government land, maybe squatters will eventually live there for decades only for use but cannot sell, even if they leave it to their children. Expansive Moi Bracks land in the thousands was owned by the British Government, and I'm sure the Kenyan government cannot legally touch, transfer, or give it to the community.
