Title: Ruto seem to have secured two legacy defining - SGR and Expressway to Malaba
Post by: RV Pundit on April 07, 2025, 08:05:41 PM
That should sort us in western kenya and rift valley infrastructure wise.
It will also exceed whatever Uhuru and Kibaki did.

Financing seems nailed for both - without debt.

China tolling.

Let hope the American led consortium will do Mombasa to Nairobi expressway.

It should then be easy job to extend Marua to Nyeri to Nanyuki to Isiolo.

That should nail good legacy for first 5yrs.

My question is, how do you extend the SGR to Malaba without accumulating debt as you claimed?

PPP is the new road to corruption in Kenya.

To be honest it started during Uhuru's time with the Expressway built in Nairobi. Any way, whatever is built in Kenya, someone somehow has to eat.

Well - yes - 10% has to be eaten - but PPP is best way out of our debt crisis- or building white elephants. At least here - a contractor see some viability

The Interstate Highway System in America opened the USA for an economic boom more than anything. Wish we could have dual intercountry highways in Africa, and an economic boom will be felt in under 5 years. With railways to accompany roads and one passport one ID, we would beat China, Europe, and America in a very short time. Africa landlockedness, tribalism, and self-hate from white supremacy suppressing Kenya and Africa from bolting like lightning rod!

Exactly - African gov should contribute to infrastructure fund - to build Inter Country highway system - AU should spearhead - and these road should be tolled.

If he can nail this then great for him as he has really nothing to show. He desperately needs to show something
That aside those.kinds of developments have chain ripple effect and open up.new opportunities for wananchi that really trickles down.to peoples pockets.

Remains to be seen whether Kung Fu interests in Afrika are still on with a focus on Trump trade wars. Ruto has to contend with the instability question, which made ufool miss the deal after the handchieth —Dejavu payback.

Yues cares less for mwafrika except for terror, and minerals in Satta Afrika/DRC and oil in Niger delta.

I thought Mbadi was in China trying to renegotiate terms for old loans.  Kenya is on the verge of loan default.

Before loan default is reached, you will see all the distress signs like in Uhuru's error. No fuel, shilling to dollars skyrocketing, no money in circulation, etc., nothing moving, etc. Kenya right now is stable if you want to do business, work, or have capital. Kenyans bought more cars in the last 2 years than at any time in Kenya's history. Those upper- to middle-class in Kenya have so much money, but those at the bottom are struggling. Kenya is a capitalistic country, and those with money, brains, and work ethics continue to accumulate while poor people are slowly fading into poverty. I don't think Kenya will default with grown-ups now in charge! Immense Prosperity is about 2-5 years away from sweeping Kenya. Look at spending and leisure. When Kenyans are spending, it means chunk of people have money!
