RARIEDA, Kenya, Oct 15 — Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has urged the Luo and Kalenjin communities to unite and focus on development.
Koskei, who presided over a funds drive at St Luke’s Ndara Parish ACK in Rarieda Constituency, said the two communities must just live harmoniously.
He said both being Nilotic groups, acrimonious competition between the two communities was unnecessary.
“We share so many things, even the language, and the pronunciation is almost similar,” he said.
Koskei said the brotherhood between the two communities dates centuries back and will not be wiped out by a few elements stoking division.
“I just live along the border at Chemelil, we’re a family and anybody who discredits our unity will be forced to tore the line,” he said.
Border clashes
The border at Sondu market has in the recent past witnessed a spate of flare ups leading to deaths, destruction of property and displacement of families.
Koskei further announced that the administration of President William Ruto will deliver development to every part of the country without any discrimination.
“This government will bring development to Nyanza just like any other region, you like it or not,” he said.

He was accompanied by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo and Principal Secretary for Interior Raymond Omollo.
CS Owalo on his part praised the Kenya Kwanza government for working with Nyanza region, a region that has always been on the Opposition side.
Owalo noted that the current government has strived to include the people of Nyanza in driving the nation towards an economic recovery.
“Since independence, this is the first government that has endured total inclusion of our people in running the affairs of the government,” he said.
He said the government is truly concerned about the plight of Nyanza people and other regions.
“Already, the plan is on to tarmack Kamito road and put up a pier at Asembo Bay to help in lake transport,” he said.
He further noted that Kamito beach is among other beaches along Lake Victoria the government is putting up modern fish landing beaches to help address post harvest losses.
PS Omollo urged the locals to take advantage of the ongoing rains to plant trees.
He said President Ruto is keen on environment conservation.

“The President is very clear on an ambitious climate action program, which will ensure we plant 15 billion trees over the next nine years,” he said.
Omollo said there must be a call to action to increase the tree cover in a bid to have wood and cash for economic growth.

That is how to talk to warring communities. These thriving tribal nations is what has held Kenya back from 1960. The founding fathers should have laid better foundation and we'd be in a better place! Here in the US, Kenyan tribes still stick together and rarely ventures out of tribe because of our history!

Why edge out Mt Kenya - you just need to move slightly and create space - the house is big enough for everyone. Mt kenya entitlement and greed has to be dealt with...so kenya can prosper as one happy nation.

GEMA have spend 70yrs demonizing Luos - you tried on Kalenjin and failed - Now Ruto job is to Isolate ODINGAs and bring the Luos in.

I agree I am all for peace . Im also not ashamed to say I celebrated Rutos 2022 victory more than Uhurus 2013 victory because of the voting shift pattern when GEMA voted for a Non GEMA it clearly was a statement we are doing away with Tribal politics.
How I wish Ruto now can work on economy otherwise we could see a 360 degrees turn . When people realise issue based politics dont have any outcome they might go back to tribal politics of mtu wetu , they are seeing Kalenjins getting all board positions this is not a good spectre .

Mt Kenya entitlement and greed was shown by how they voted for Ruto in 2022 . If it wasnt for Mt Kenya Ruto would be in opposition.
Lets be fair to Mt Kenya. They outvoted even Rift Valley in2022 for Ruto . They went against their leader who asking them to vote for Raila . They also had their own candidates but still voted for Ruto . If this is called greed and entitlement then it clearly demonstrates you true nature of philosophy you are a Mt Kenya hater reason you always advocate for violence against Mt Kenya reason you supported Raila kabila adui campaign policy of 2007.

Keep twisting and turning - I supported Kibaki since I knew politics - 1992 to 2004 - then disembarked when he return Kenyatta era Kikuyu mess - and predictably we ended up in 2007. I hate Mt kenya so much I married one and got half-GEMA kids. Listen to your foolishness.
Kikuyu elites are and were the problem. The poor kikuyus suffered for nothing. Thankfully from 2007 - we got COK 2010 constitutions including devolution - which I had advocated for - and still do - and of course fixed lots of structural problems.
2022 kikuyu hustlers finally broke free from Kikuyu elite. We just have Gachagua now with bad manners of tribal nonsense. Personally I want Ruto not to favour kalenjin - but work for everyone - Luos, Luhyas, everyone.
Right now Ruto has to fix Gachagua nonsense of entitlement and shareholding - and any attempt by Mt kenya elite to bring such nonsense again.
I am glad Sakaja has told Gachagua off when he attempted the same in Nairobi. Now Ruto has given him public warning.
And welcome everyone to gov - without any handshake. Luos should freely join UDA just like Kikuyus - and we should all be happy in one country.
Any tribalism be it kalenjin - or Kikuyu or Luos - is NOT SUSTAINABLE.
We must continue to fight any greed/entitlement/selfishness from Kalenjin and kikuyu elites - and remind them COK2010 envisage a gov that is the face of Kenya.
