Title: POOR KENYANS-International VS Kenya commodity Prices.
Post by: Githunguri on June 22, 2023, 05:52:06 AM
globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/
indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=dap-fertilizer&months=12&currency=jpy

(1) 1KG Sugar Global KES120 Kenya
(2) 1 KG Cooking oil Global KES138 Kenya KES290
(3) 1KG Maize Global  KES38 Kenya KES100+
(3) 1 KG Wheat Global KES50 Kenya KES100+
(4) 1 Liter Gasoline Price Kenya KES184
(5) 1 Unit of Electricity token Kenya KES22

As you can see from the above, the reason we have single sourcing for palm oil is because the value of imported petroleum is about 150BN annually, so when Kuria Gazettes single sourcing through Dubai, Him and UDA brokers make maybe over 20BN annnually...the same thing happens with oil products, someone will be pocketing over 50BN annually through single sourcing kick backs.

If you properly think why we cant have largescale subsidized maize, sunflower, wheat and sugar plantations to cut the import bill or have free oil and gas import market with little government intervention,Its because the political class which controls govt machinery will loose billions from kickback import from these products.

Same thing happens in things like cotton industry, kill local cotton industry and import and voila you have a cotton import billionaire and poor small scale farmers. Same thing happens in rice industry.

if you ask yourself why we have Kenya power monopoly, its because someone makes billions as an independent electricity supplier or hardware supplier...if you liberalize, he looses millions.

To the young Kenyans, Its time to rise up to the occasion, You cannot be buying commodities same as developed countries while you earn very little. The kenyan system has become a master (political) slave (citizens) relationship heavily guarded by a corrupt police force which act as a militia and a corrupt judiciary.

Ruto-500BN oil deal (in the name of govt to govt) + gas.
Kuria-120BN cooking oil deal (in the name of stopping Kenyatta)
Wheat,sugar,maize,Rice import license-Over 150BN,Who got them?

I just pity Kenyans. Being led by thieves who bribe pastors.

Precisely, I can now relate.Infact,I believe right now Kuria,Gachagaua,Ruto,Ichungwa own ships which ferry oil, gas, cereals and grains to kenya....If you want to import bulk products from tanzania or uganda without their approval (kickbackl)..they bankrupt you either through border delays or labelling your products unsafe..you go bankrupt...That is why Ruto signed a deal with the grain bulk handlers guy in Mombasa and the taifa gas guy after signing the oil deal in Dubai. Only popular uprising will change this state of affairs...the good thing is that when uprising and violence's begin like in sudan, nobody will be saved and we all perish together until we can have decent capitalism.

This state of affairs must stop,I hope this message reaches all and sundry.

Useless conspiracy theories.
Factor freight and taxes
Only political fatcats benefit whenever there is need for import licenses and when duty is lifted.
Otherwise you're free to go abroad buy wheat, rice, sugar and attempt to sell in kenya
Sugar is tightly controlled - most other commodities are free.
And of course you can farm them.

Corruption is there - UDA have stolen - but dont exxagerate.

1) What conspiracy theories?

2) You need a license to import,Fuel products, wheat sugar maize cooking oil and rice in Kenya.Since Ruto took over he has cancelled and issued new licenses. The cooking oil deal to import 125MN tonnes of cooking oil,The 500BN oil deal in UAE,The cancellation of flour milling license,What conspiracy is there?

3)The work of the government is restore sanity in markets,That's why Ruto and Uhuru started Galana kulalu to deal with maize crisis,The GOV should facilitate private companies to set up large scale grain plantations through dams and roads, that will reduce import bill and create food security through low prices for public good.what conspiracy is there?

4) Lastly,The cost of shipping grains or bulk is normally KES 3 per kilogramme...If you don't know about shipping, let me educate you.A 50000 tonne grain ship charges about 3MN per day,If it takes 1.5Months to ship grains from Brazil or Asia,The total cost would be 70MN shipping including handling and insurance.Thats why the shipping cost per KG is less than KES 3.Its the same as trailers. So if you ship anything from anywhere in the world in bulk,The logisticcal cost to customer doesn't exceed 10 KES per KG in Kenya.Even if you add all taxes and whatever,Kenyans are being skinned alive.

Those are undisputed facts.

What was wrong with the previous system? It was open...
Its time for Kalenjins to eat the country to the ground.

Jinga.
How does Kalenjin come into this?
If Ruto or Chirchir ate in such a deal - does it mean Kalenjin like me has their stomach full.
When Uhuru or Kibaki was eating - was kikuyus eating.

None of these companies are owned by Kalenjin to best of my knowledge.

As far as I know - It's Saudis & UAEs - who was to settle on their local partners.

Yes. Some of us have not eaten. We support gov out of convinction it better than Raila or Azimio.

Stop dragging Kalenjin people into your hate nonsense. 99 percent of the 7 million Kalenjin have never stolen any money - they are in their farms minding their business. Those appointed to Gov are not even 1,000 people.

Say Ruto and is UDA fellow are eating.

The eaters here are from all tribes.

Kenyans consume:
18Kgs of sugar per person annually
90Kgs of maize per person annually
25Kgs of Rice per person annually
45Kgs of Wheat per person annually
7Kgs of cooking oil per person annually
Those are 187KGs x Average price of 150 Per KG=28,000 annually per person.
Thats about 3000 for food per month on a single person especially those who live in Urban settlements and areas like Mt Kenya where there is almost no farmland left.

Food 3000 Monthly,1200 on 6KGs gas cylinder monthly, Bus fare,60 bob per day thats 1500 per month...That's why you will see poor kenyans ferried by Indian contractor lorries and police keep quiet because they know the situation.

You can therefore see why political control of commodities is a criminal activity.

(1) OVERPRICE COMMODITIES THROUGH MONOPOLISED SOURCING .
(2) OVERTAX THE COMMODITIES
(3) STEAL THE TAX

The worst part, After all this thuggery, Regularly donate the money and food and appear like a saint...You can imagine having a family of four with poor or low income and then the bread winner becomes sick or dies because the NHIF can't cover him.

IF RUTO WAS NOT STEALING MONEY FROM KENYANS FROM THE ABOVE GIMMICKS,THEY WOULD NOT BE LIVING IN SLUMS.

I PITY KENYANS.WE HAVE CRIMINALS IN POWER.

RISE UP YOUNG PEOPLE.SACRIFICE YOUR LIVES FOR THE PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.

You have to factor the taxes imposed on many of these goods, government is trying all ways to to raise income but since Kenya is a poor country I don't know how they plan to achieve this.

Cost of living in USA is almost the same as it was in 2000. I use to fill my cart in walmart with 120 in 2000; now it is about 130-140 20+ years later!

Its very simple.
(1) Check commodity Price at source eg Oil Gas (Middle East) Cooking Oil (Indonesia)
(2) Add CIF Cost Insurance Freight Up to Mombasa Port.
(3) Add the highest tax you can imagine 80% Tax.

You arrive at three conclusions:
Proxy Companies in Dubai are brokering the commodities from the country of origin because some of these commodities are imported the gov or through gov licensing private corporations.
The proxy companies go ahead to broker Insurance & Flight.
Then the corrupt government officers overtax the commodities.
That leads to economic slowdown.

Its that simple. When you hear the president of a neighbouring country echoing the same, think twice.

What a silly debate you are having. One is costing in dollars and refers to an era when dollar exchanged well under 100 to the Ksh. While the other is talking Ksh which has since depreciated to 151 to the dollar. Since I lived alone most of the time, my shopping at supermarket was just $100 a month around about year 2010

Cost of living in US is dirt cheap. You shop on certain days, and stick to Walmart/Sams. I shop with 'poor' people of America and the cost of living you can barely notice 20 years later. Grocery of $150 can keep you going for 10 days, so if you earn like $75 hr, 2 hours labor can feed you for 10 days. Hard to find such a living anywhere in the globe!

Especially when they are holding that PS controller lol. They eat all day! In my household, we eat 90% Kenyan food, which is dirt cheap. I slaughter 1 bull every 6 months, 1 Goat every other month, Rice, beans, Ugali, Chapati, and vetables, and I think budget comes to 4-5K a year! Not to mention those oupons. We are frugal as F!

I think some of the fuel sold in Kenya maybe 10 % is not documented in government records. You have private groups with strong political networks who illegally import fuel and sell it in particular petrol stations or wholesale it to smaller petrol stations. There is no way you can risk 17BN fuel without knowledge of who is who and senior security men.
