I think I could totally live here. I noticed double standards between African Americans and everyone else. But I seem to get treated "black" i.e. discounts and freebies. It's like I'm in Nairobi without Kibera.

I try to befriend only black peeps when I go out. If I have a white person with me we get charged the full rate. I'm pretty stingy with expenditure. I can't afford to be on the expensive side of double standards. This race double standard here isn't as bad as Nairobi though.

I've been asked out a few times since arriving here. American men are very brash. They have that - you're mine come with me now look. Quite domineering. I think I'll need to sport a ring. The last thing I need right now is a smelly American man in my life.
