I would stay 30% of the country live in slum like conditions. Partially you can blame the govt. And personal responsibility. Major problems lies in innovation and financing. Decent, cheap, Adobe housing would solve housing issue chap chap.

That is why we need housing levy

Does a person living in a mud house in the rural area qualify to be classified as living in a slum? I do not think so. First the slum dwellers are usually tenants. The rural folks tend to own their homes. Ruaral folks, who are the big majority in Kenya tend to have open spaces to the next homestead. Not the case of slum dwellers. I would conclude actually less than 5% of Kenya's population live in slums.

Why Northlands repossession is a matter of national security.
Degazettement of Nairobi National Park tuwache kelele ya tree planting and climate change.
Still no word on the 1 million acre land redistribution scheme.

You will wait till kingdom come.
Northlands repossession will only occur concurrently with the repossesion of the land on which Weston Hotel stands. Wake me up when that happens.

We need to borrow a leaf from the South Africa's Reconstruction and Development Program-RDP. Dr. Charles Hinga should home-in on what South African government did especially in the Northern Cape and Orange Free State provinces. That info should not be hard for him to get.

Adobe houses is pretty much a mud house. Kenya is pretty much one big slum from one urban centre to another mainly due to poor planning.

Capital city needs to be moved away from Nairobi
-
Why do people live in slums whereas there are vacant houses across Nairobi? The answer is saving. People come to Nairobi to make money not to spend money. They get paid $300 as watchmen or mjengo monthly, they spend $30 on rent,$40 on food and send the rest of the money back in their rural villages where they have decent homes and families. IN the village that money is used to build a house buy a pick up a cow some chicken etc...The idea of living in an affordable housing apartment costing $100 monthly cannot work in Kenya whereas there $20 houses. So the whole affordable housing is garbage and whoever says that just because kenyans live in rural areas makes them slaves is crazy.Let people live where they want and deem fit.
People in developed countries suffer alot. You pay $400 for a bed sitter, the electric gas and water bill is about $100usd,If you dont work due to either sickness you become homeless...Never ending mortgages and loans.I better live in a Nairobi slums than a new york apartment which has alot of pressure.
