Quick Facts
100 million people consumer base.
2.3 million square km land mass.
15 million Capital City Inhabitants.
17 Years Median Age
80 million Hectares of arable land 9 months of rainfall annually.
86% of DRC population is unbanked.
My economics module lecturer at UCT used to tell us that the best time to make money is when there is blood in the streets. So fu.ck the war in parts of DRC. Go there and invest.

Definitely
Well worth the risk.

Plus folks there are not xenophobic like South Sudanese.

Equity bank projects that its DRC unit will be bigger and more profitable than Kenya's unit. Anyone with some serious capital or with a already defined brand should expand to DRC.

You're joking right.
The last time I was in the DRC, I was held at gunpoint by a militia group, the same group that perpetrated the genocide in Rwanda and now reside in the DRC. Before me they'd massacred a bus filled with 18 Australian backpackers.
Like you, I was curious about business ventures in the DRC. Traversed the jungles on foot to escape for my life. If it wasn't for an angel I wouldn't have made it out alive. He told me God told him to get me out of there.
I ran into sights I still think about today. Naked and malnourished children in large groups in the forest screaming for help, cannibalism, child soldiers, horrendous, horrendous sights.
DRC is a dark, evil place.

That is horrific. Yes Eastern Congo is hell on earth.

Its a very dangerous place.
For you to invest there..you must either have insiders in goverment or protection from militias in the farming or mining jungle.whereby you share the profit.
Equity bank makes money in DRC through money laundering and lending money to goverment militia protected companies...that is it makes money through illegal business with governent protection.
-
They bought into existing Bank and so did KCB. It easier that way than starting your own business.
