what the fuck iebc. they actually contracted such a small unknown company to run elections in kenya. this is a Venezuelan company. so it is likely it was contracted because it was weak. why not pay Amazon or some other big company to run such operations
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartmatic
seems to have some sort of IP in voting systems. however if this was founded by Akina Chavez then it may have a lot of state actors in it

please move on...next real election is 2032/

move on to where. I am learning how this sausage is made for my own curiosity. as you can see I am not heavily invested in any outcome but I got feed my need to learn

I hate that through our intense electoral process we're enabling a company incorporate our learning into their product, which they'll then be successful at selling into other markets. Wish we built our own open source hardware and software, which other countries can use and modify as the wish. It's very easy for people at Gearbox makerspace in Industrial Area, Dedan Kimathi University etc to design the hardware.
I'd like us to incorporate technology into everyday voting e.g in national and county assemblies. Fast decision making is good for the economy. Then technology can become so much a part of our lives that we make the constitution a living document that can be easily modified. It's theoretically easier to adopt voting technology for issues (referendums etc) which are less high stakes than for people (political candidates).

Apart from the reused KIM Kit number issue that was raised(and casually ignored IMO), I really think Baba did not make a great case. The technology in that system is fairly standard, and even if the company were to be bigger, they all tend to subcontract a lot their modules to the smaller guys.

Raila just like in 2007 rigged and still was defeated. He knows and his team members knows it ….

The state of California uses Smartmatic for its elections... not a small company by any means. The fourth-largest economy in the world if it were ranked as a country (https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-10-24/california-poised-to-overtake-germany-as-world-s-no-4-economy) uses smartmatic.. huge vote of confidence in its capabilities

I thought the link would a reference to back up your claim that California used/uses Smartmatic (and in what election). We already know that California is a very rich state. :D

Are you questioning if CA uses Smartmatic? Been using it for years - firsthand. We had an LA county-improved and customized version in 2020 (https://www.smartmatic.com/us/media/article/los-angeles-county-vsap-modernizes-elections-project-s-timeline/ )
