You use KES 5000 to buy KPLC tokens, Government takes everything and leaves you with KES 1891 as the amount for tokens. Over KES 3000 goes into taxes & charges & levies. Yet this KES 5000 is already net amount of your taxed money. For how long? pic.twitter.com/hIPCtMiohs

I remember asking why there was this big push to connect Kenyans to power grid at the expense of everything else and I was told this was one of the major ways to collect taxes from Kenyans. There I was thinking most homestead use roughly 1k per month so govt collecting 10% that would be around 100 Bob so that would be fair. Never thought it would be this bad almost 60% on fees and taxes. Lord have mercy. Text book case of killing the Golden goose.worldbank funded this. it is was not economically feasible. the idea was to try and increase productivity of rural areas.
