Title: KPLC Taxes: 70% How Do Kenyans Survive?
Post by: sema on January 18, 2023, 02:49:48 PM

Life is unbelievably unbearable. You use KES 5000 to buy KPLC tokens, Government takes everything and leaves you with KES 1891 as the amount for tokens. Over KES 3000 goes into taxes & charges & levies. Yet this KES 5000 is already net amount of your taxed money. For how long? pic.twitter.com/hIPCtMiohs
— SokoAnalyst (@SokoAnalyst) January 17, 2023

I remember asking why there was this big push to connect Kenyans to power grid at the expense of everything else and I was told this was one of the major ways to collect taxes from Kenyans. There I was thinking most homestead use roughly 1k per month so govt collecting 10% that would be around 100 Bob so that would be fair. Never thought it would be this bad almost 60% on fees and taxes. Lord have mercy. Text book case of killing the Golden goose.

What's that inflation adjustment fee of 164?

Honestly how do kenyans survive? I think even the so called middle class is pretty much mostly flat broke.
