here is the song
I just saw the this music video with a friend… and we had an argument about the meaning.
I feel that it is a metaphorical criticism on the structure and current state of our political, economic, and social systems. It seems to take a somewhat Marxist perspective on class struggles and how in our current systems, it is extremely difficult to overcome the challenges enacted by the upper classes, albeit through a trickle down effect. The elitists and bourgeois inadvertently enact the will of the “King of the Jungle” simply by protecting their own asses (pun intended). Through corruption, deception, and sheer brute force, these apex individuals can maintain the status quo of the classes and continue to live in ultimate comfort by feeding off of the misery of the working sheep (sorry, the puns just keep coming). Finally, anyone who tries to disrupt the existing state of affairs and manages to step above their station is crushed back into their old position…If they’re lucky.
She thinks the message is to be vegetarian.

here are the lyrics
"Kangaroo Court"
There's a dark part of town
Where the girls get down
And I cannot wait for a chance to go
Wait for a chance to go
I've got my bad luck shoes and every excuse
To dance these blues away
Ain't coming home
I ain't coming home
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court
In a dusty room I come to assume
That I've been doomed
To lose my mind tonight
Too weak to fight
So I try to save face
And I rest my case
The judge pulls me aside, says, "C'est la vie
Let your darker side come out to feed"
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court
All rise...
I can't do sexy [laugh]
I commit the crime of wasting time
Always trying to rhyme
Yes, I am guilty
But don't misunderstand me
I admit defeat
Then I move my feet
My history will never be repeated
I won't ever be repeated
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Sit up, sit up, sit up
It's a kangaroo court
A kangaroo court

I like the music. I would say the song talks about someone like Eric Garner. In another skin and class, he would be celebrated for gaming the system and evading taxes. Instead of being choked to death.

Love it. Reminds me of Orwell's 'Animal Farm' Marxism etc. like you say Ole, and the judicial systems today.
