Title: Yet another Sakaja no common sense - not to close noisy churches in estates
Post by: Kadudu on December 02, 2022, 01:31:35 PM
Sakaja orders bars and restaurants in residential areas to be closed which is a wise decision. The man should have done the same to noisy churches. Kelele ni kelele, whether from a church or from a bar.
That Sakaja says he is a Christian and cannot close churches is dumb of him. He was not chosen to be pastor of Naiirobi, but to run the city according to the secular laws.

Wacha zako. He has given church time to regulate. I dont think many people have serious issues with church noise. It wekeend noise. The problem are bars making noise from Monday to Friday in residential areas. If they start Friday to Sunday - no one will complain. Its part of what make Nairobi weekend electrifying

And most churches do good work for society...providing social services where gov fails.

Bars should never be equated to churches.

Even when I am 100% pagan myself.

Bars & clubs need heavy regulations..it dicey to regulate churches without getting into freedom of worship.

Most people are conditioned to sunday church noise in kenya - and it's generally not regarded as annoying noise....because they are making moral noises..not Manyange All SIzes

Kanisa, yao in kelele takatifu.

Even those mosques start making noise at 5 am everywhere in Nairobi. Kelele ni kelele.

Churhces were doing good some years back in Kenya. Today those are Ltds that do not pay taxes. At least bars do pay taxes and for operational licenses. So you are right, bars cannot be equited to churches. From a point of view of KRA, bars operate on higher moral grounds.

They can drink without making noise if they are located in residential areas. No church can make noise from monday to monday like clubs.

The Bible and Koran beseeches christians and muslims to make noise to convert people. No sane gov will regulate churches or mosques. Slippery slope. They can be asked politely to tone down. Nobody will close a church or mosque without risking a lot.

Those churches are very annoying. They should be regulated. You will see a small church that has invested all offerings and tithe in a sound system to a point that speakers are placed outside of the church. For what?

They pay taxes by providing social services...schools, hospitals, orphanage.
NGOS do the same.
You dont demand taxes from non profit organisation.

Churches in Kenya today are profit organisations. See how the pastors live. Biggest capitalists in town.

Yes of course - but they are far and in btw - majority depend on church members - and generally even if I am not religious - they provide essential services to keep kenyans sane and hopefully - in a tough enviroment.
