The boy was arrested and jailed for 9.5 years for drug dealing. ( Not a wise thing indulge in regardless any part of the world now imagine being a foreigner in Moscow , you become an instant “celebrity” and also why his Embassy didnt involve themselves for deportation is another question.)
He Decided to join and signed for Wagner group to fight in Ukraine and be free in six months .
Now lots of foreigners fighting for both sides in the Ukrainian conflict. In Ukrainian side almost 1/4 of its army is made up of foreign mercenaries .
Unlike the Ukrainian side when the foreigners are captured by Russian army they are handled well untill there is a swap . Not the same from the Nazi mercenaries .

Kwani the swap is with hot air? The value of the captives is what determines what they get in return. It is in the interest of the capturing side to handle high value war prisoners well.
