Title: Time for kipgisis and nandi to take over these tea farms
Post by: RV Pundit on October 20, 2022, 09:07:03 PM
Make it impossible for the large corp to thrive.
They will continue to sell
Meantime organize people into cooperatives so they can buy them.

So he doesnt want mechanized farming??
Y not directly talk with the tea corps instead of this nonsense. Sends a wrong msg, especially for a new admn.
Dont trash corps, or else....

BTW locals cant manage sht. let alone such big entities.

Locals have been managing for donkeys. Only one or two white guys. The whole management is black.
They are only two or three corp - and everyone know they grabbed the land.
They have to sell...

Kenyans are poor in work ethics. I suspect machines do better job 100x. Kenya should rethink this bad idea of pushing for the removal machines so that 50K slow workforce get the jobs.

This is a very good point.  Ruto needs to call him privately and tell him to STFU

Problem with machine is it is not selective, picks up old and new buds and generally the quality of tea goes down.

They need to go. I think Ruto will force them to secede land; and counties will keep the pressure on; until they leave.

We dont need them anymore.

The number of privately own factories alone by small time kenyans is staggering - more than 100.

Tea estates should revert to original owners - and the purchase should be orderly - estate by estate - they can sell to cooperative - as they prepare to exit Kenya.

This one is near my place - they sold it - and cooperative have put their own tea factory - and they are doing well.

Absolutely!

Long overdue. They should have left in the 60's!

South Korea produces some of the best tea qualities on earth.
They meticilously pick by hand and process it.
Machines will never give quality work.

All good except our good quality handpicked tea is used to blend low quality tea.
We can go high quality as long as we demand it be branded and farmers get paid a premium.
That would pay for all the hardwork.
So we remove machines - ban export of bulk raw tea - and start branding.
I have seen some chinese and japanese tea that sell for even 1,000 dollars a few grams.
