Nobody outside Russia recognise those terrorities as Russian. I doubt the US would do that. Can Russia throw Nuclear. They know better than play their last card. It not in US interest to end war. I doubt Russia will use nuclear and US knows it. US interest is for civil war to continue in Ukraine and keep Russia busy defending their newly acquired territories.
So US will fund Ukraine just enough to keep Russia busy - not not enough to let Ukraine beat Russia.

So the world should help Putin keep Crimea or he will nuke it. Sounds dumb. Nobody will listen to his empty nuclear threats. Let him Nuke Ukraine. Infrastructure, Human Resources, minerals, oil, gas - it should be rivaling China and the US. Instead they’ve managed to reduce the place to a middling petro-state and a pariah at that. He can keep the four regions but he should expect robust defence from Ukraine akin to Ethiopia and Eritrea border wars. That I think is how this will play out.
