Watch frustrated Fox Noise reporters cry mayohee over Obama's Presidential Action..
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/11/20/in-immigration-speech-obama-will-announce-protective-status-for-two-groups/
In his immigration speech to the nation Thursday night, President Obama will say the administration plans on granting protective status or “deferred action” to two groups – parents of United States citizens or legal permanent residents who have been in the country for five years, and young people who were brought into the country illegally as of 2010.
Obama laid out the changes he is making to immigration laws without the consent of Congress. A key element of his plan is to instruct immigration authorities to prioritize expulsion action against gang members, felons and suspected terrorists rather than law-abiding undocumented parents of U.S. citizens and residents and others.
The changes will offer those who qualify the chance to stay temporarily in the country for three years, as long as they pass background checks and pay back taxes. But they will not be offered a path to eventual citizenship or be eligible for federal benefits or health care programs. And, in theory, the measures could be reversed by a future president..

The real fear is not Latinos per se. But rather their political leaning. They are against Obama and the Democrats taking credit for regularizing their relatives. Demographics will change with or without amnesty for illegals.
Secession from the Union may have been attractive 150 years years ago. It doesn't make any sense today. The prime candidates for secession are actually mooching off the rest of the states.

Terminator,
1) If Rethugs want to do it..what is stoping them from using the congress they control to enact this changes and take the credit for...except their racist urge to lock out latinos and others races they perceive to be inferior..coming to dilutting the great american dream.
2) I think some states like North Dakota with lots of Oil and largely white population might secede....
Anyway look like US will become a Brazil...yellow country.
Obama has done the right thing....

The Republicans don't know whether theirs is a White Man's party or not. Time has stopped for them. They would like to see the country like it was many decades ago. That aint happening.
The coalition that Obama has put in place basically locks out Republicans from the White House for a long time - unless something goes seriously wrong. I see them eventually relenting or going burst. Somebody was pointing at many Latino elected officials in the Republican party. That is true but it's the man on the street who counts. The bellicose statements by Tea Partiers is what that man on the street hears. That leads him in to the waiting arms of democrats.
I don't know what the congress will do. Will McConnell choose to please the Tea Partiers and the Right Wing or will he try to placate the Latinos. Either way, Obama has put them in a terrible mess. They are damned if the do and damned if they don't.

Pundit, no one is seceding...not now not ever, you can take that to the bank. Repubs have been cornered and that is why they are all over the place. These laws they could have enacted if the wanted to, but they do not want any credit going to the democrats who happens to be led by a black president (they still have election hangover). They also know that because they have been so tough in blocking immigration reforms, all the 5 mill or so new voters could go to the democrat elect, essentially locking them out of the white house for at least another 8 years. The irony is, obama may be the last democrat willing to bend over backwards for them. Had it bee another Clinton, I doubt they would have tried so hard.

Rethugs have become a do nothing party. Theirs is to block any and every thing that Obama wants to accomplish. Unfortunately, Obama has not helped the situation. He desperately wanted to wrok with people who dont want him, and he still doesnt get it. THis is not Bob Doles party, rather its a Ted Cruz party. Nothing gets done in the next two years.

I believe they have been unable to resolve kinks in legislation. You mention the Dakotas. But you have to realize there are factions in the Republican parties. A Republican from the South(these are the guys a secessionist might court) is a different animal from one in the Dakotas.

Like I mention above, I believe they are going through a process that will result in an eventual breakup. There will be those who will move to the middle and the extremists who might be able to hold on to certain areas. Latino's, unlike blacks, are not owned by any party. Yet they can swing the vote in battleground states.
