Location:  Kenya, countrywide

Kenya is scheduled to hold elections on August 9, 2022.  Campaigning for local and national offices is fully underway.  Kenya has periodically experienced some pre-electoral violence during election cycles.

Election-related demonstrations and rallies regularly take place in the runup to the election and are likely to continue, at times blocking key intersections and causing traffic jams.  Demonstrations may occasionally be violent, requiring police intervention.  Strikes and other protest activities related to economic conditions occur regularly.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy has imposed movement restrictions on personnel in Kisumu. The State Department reminds U.S. citizens of the continued need for sustained vigilance.

Actions to Take:

Monitor local media for updates.
Avoid crowds.
Avoid demonstrations.
Keep a low profile.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Be vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs.
Do not display signs of wealth, such as wearing expensive jewelry or watches.
Review your personal security plans.
Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible.
Carry proper identification, including a copy of the bio-page of your U.S. passport with a copy of a current Kenyan visa.

Damn! US doesn't mention a location with intelligence. The good thing is Kikuyu businesses will be be spared because Uhuru endorsed Raila. Kale folks should just stay away of Nyanza until things subside. Luo folk in Eldoret are safe unless raila starts maandamno!

I really dont know how they will react - but definitely they will feel totally wasted& depleted by odinga - and may just avoid politics for sometime. Miguna Miguna should be brought to rescue them from Odingaism ASAP.

I pity the RVs. You actually think a foreign country will immerse itself into a country's election affairs? The US embassy is not the Nandi Senator to profile people or cities. I hate to burst your bubble and Pundit's bubble. The Americans have explained why they made specific mention of Kisumu and it is not what you THINK!

US killed GoK propaganda that was targetting RV. The rest are details. There are many Americans in RV. Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru alone daily ni wengi. Eldoret - huko Iten ni wengi.

Can Matiangi also withdrew the attempted profiling of RV as unsafe? This time whatever Azimio do ; just backfires. Unga ndio bado cannot be found in any self; Now they want supermarket to alter contract laws because they have election; Unga dealers and supermarket should just go Mteja until wednesday next week.
