Land clashes ? or ritual killing?

Despite Pastor Mwangi’s house having several phones as most villagers prefer to charge their gadgets there, nothing was stolen during the incident — including his phone and wallet.

“He had a matchbox in his hand, and some vegetables were in a plastic basin near his body. I think he had intended to make his dinner,” Mr Thongombire said.

Police sources investigating the killing that happened just 100 metres from Kahuti Police Patrol Base, said they suspected the pastor could have been killed due to family tussles.

“Relatives of the pastor have revealed that the family had feuds resulting from land disputes,” the detective said.

Some relatives and neighbours have been interrogated by the police, but so far, no one has been arrested in connection with the murder.

The pastor’s house is in between two of his brothers’ houses but they both said they did not hear any commotion that night.
