In Summary
Matatus locked out of dedicated bus lanes to be built on five key Nairobi transport corridors.Nairobi governor Evans Kidero said
Wednesday that buses would need a minimum capacity of 73 passengers to operate on the special lanes.
The plan is tied to the expansion of city roads including Juja, Jogoo, Outer Ring and Ngong.

I guess this has something to do with Matatus employing obstruction as a tactic to get more passengers. Penalties for obstructing special lanes should carry highly punitive sanctions, not least forfeiture of the vehicle.

This is sensible. At least it shall give us a break from the transport cartels.

They will win in court if they challenge it, based that it was not publicly discussed. Am for it but all matters of public needs to be discussed before implementation.

hoho Kidero will never understand Nairobi ....... can't understand why most academical technocrats/politicians think they can fight matatus ... that they call it menace just shows how they will never get it.....
all this MRTS plans likely to end up Syokimau station way
It is time all projects incorporate psychologists and sociologists... that way we would design stages which people use unlike current situation on Thika Rd where only a countable stages are used

That's my thinking too. Such a sysytem is complex and needs all levels of society involvement.
Its bound to FAIL.
