Started its Lissajous orbit around L2 a few weeks after launch.  Here is the first picture after completion of some mirror alignment steps.

It operates in the infrared spectrum.  It's so far away from earth(1.5 million km) that astronauts won't be able to be sent to fix any problems that emerge.  For comparison the moon is a mere 384,400 km away from earth.
