My condolence to the Zambian people.

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
@Pundit, Why will a Mzungu be president?
-
Guy Scott is currently the VP.

The left the "Kaunda Clause" in the constitution. This was put there by Chiluba to bar Kaunda from running against him. It basically rules out anybody whose parents were not born in Zambia.
VP Scott's parents were born in Scotland while he was born in Zambia. I think they should have convened parliament and deleted that clause rather than appear mean spirited. At least let the opposition take the blame for refusing. But African greed is huge.

What a strange law. Why should where someone's parents were born matter if you yourself were born in a country that your parents had moved to? If America had this law, Obama would never have seen the insides of the Oval office.

I love my fellow Negro. But they should leave it in this mzungu's hands. Let the mzungu do what he knows.

Zambians may not be a very litigious people like Americans or Kenyans. I think Chiluba devastated the Civil Society the way Uhuru is trying and Kibaki attempted (through coopting).
That law is inherently illegal. One can not legislate a law to target an individual. There are protections against specialized treatment by the law, not to mention such an obvious and obnoxious discrimination.
Besides, Kaunda had already been President for almost three decades. So what was the law curing if no malady had manifested itself in the three Kaunda decades? Somebody should have rushed to court to have the law thrown out. I know Chiluba became a dictator worse than any Zambia will ever have but he did leave office but the law stayed. There is something wrong.

PS: Congratulations President Guy Scott!

It could be a positive that he doesn't have in Zambia a lot of "our people" who must lead in the big-time eating. On the other hand, he might be beholden to kienyeji powers.

They changed the constitution and now it comes back to haunt them.
