https://nation.africa/kenya/news/dpp-kenyans-could-pay-sh80bn-for-ghost-arror-kimwarer-dams--3629000
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) yesterday informed the Anti-Corruption Court in Milimani, Nairobi, that CMC Di Ravenna- Itinera (JV) Joint Venture had filed a case before the arbitration court in The Hague in pursuit of the payment.
The firm wants the government of Kenya compelled to pay Sh80 billion for the project whose initial budget was Sh65 billion.

This is why corruption is not worse evil - stupidity is.
Ruto should immediately negotiate with contractor once in power and they should return to complete the dams.
-
I thought this contractor is bankrupt or has no capacity to build those dams. This used to happen all the time in Ghana under Nana and Mills. Ghanan Elites would draw up contracts like this, they would then make sure it is caught up in political disputes. they would later sue and collect a lot of fees. Seems ruto had already set up a dynamite on this. He knew even if the GOK shut it down they were going to lose and lawyers can still take their cut to him.

Money went into his pockets, and he's busy using it so he can get more money. What a Fack.!!

Kenya can cite corruption and the case is dead. But they won't. So italipwa

Where is the evidence of corruption when Kenya is unable to prosecute the case?

CMC is one of Italy biggest contractor - a large cooperative of many contractors.
And this not only one - in JKIA - Uhuru after falling out with Wanjigi over SGR bribe - went and chased away Chinese contractor. Those Chinese are demanding lots of money now -
International contracts are international...you cannot just terminate them...without any DUE PROCESS.

Mwizi stole the money and that was the genesis of the fallout.

Doesnt matter - you dont close the barn after the horse has bolted. Even Angoleasing we are still paying. Uhuru went and paid 3B Kshs to gain access to Eurobond. There still a lot of guys out there holding Angloleasing promisory notes from Kenya. The debt sharks dont care about angoleasing - they know they bound kenya debt instruments and will get paid plus interest.
Once the horse has bolted - in international contracts- the best you can hope for is see through the contract.
When Ruto was stealing - why were you a sleep? Now you cancel the contract mid-way - You pay 100 percent to Italians plus loans. That is TRIPLE WHAMMY.
Ruto keep his bribe money, contractor get paid for doing nothing, and the loan has to be paid.
