Title: Kenyan health workers fail English test for UK jobs
Post by: Kadudu on October 27, 2021, 05:59:32 PM
Did Kagwe only send his relatives to apply for those jobs?

"Out of 300 health workers sent for an English language test only 10 passed.

This reminds me of a friend on mine who was an engineer in the UAE and his company needed about 100 welders. So he asked for applications for Kenya and out of the 300 applicants with welding certificates from Kenya instituitions, only 3 qualified to get the jobs in UAE.

I think our education sector is just a reflection of our society. We love mediocrity.

Welcome to the new world.
You don't need education. Even USA's standards have significantly gone down. Trump told white people education doesnt matter, skills matter. That is why they support him. In Oregon they passed a law to allow high schoolers to graduate without proficiency in basic subjects. Dems seem to agree. Go figure!!!
Anyway, there is going to be a culture shock once they get to UK. Standardization and proficiency is not given high marks in Kenya. So it will take annother three to six months training, then another 6mos for the average to catch up with min standards.

Mutahi Kagwe should first come up with a clarification on how the 300 applicants were chosen. This could explain everything.

When did Kenyans start giving explanations. Zero accountability. Serious kauntries would be busy trying to find the colleges those who failed attended and trying to find out if there are systemic problems....we move.
On this kind of opportunities I think they should be shared equally among counties first. If certain counties cannt fill their slots then it should be left to the ministry of health to fill those positions.
